I have read the whole thread, thank you.

I particularly liked the bits where you told us...

jaywalking is still an offence punishable by the highway traffic act

...like any road you can cross a road in a safe manner, but it is an offence to walk along a road unless a country road without a footpath and then you have to walk facing the traffic
    What is that all about?

The Highway Code, Rules for Pedestrians makes the suggestions...
Pavements (including any path along the side of a road) should be used if provided.
If there is no pavement keep to the right-hand side of the road so that you can see oncoming traffic.
    That is only advice.
You would think that if jaywalking was an offence, it would be mentioned in the Highway Code, wouldn't you?

I am sorry, but I have been unable to find anything, apart from your posts, that tell me that jaywalking is an offence in the UK.

You mention the Road Traffic Act 1991, is there any mention in there about jaywalking?
    I couldn't find it.

Then they should keeP the restaurant open. It's not fair that because I don't drive I can't get served.

Your husband should have been there earlier.

Or you should have packed him some sandwiches before he left.

I had a craving for a KFC. I got home late from my Dad's (who had been rubbing it in that he'd had a KFC for lunch) and figured I'd send my husband up to KFC for me as he was going to the chippy opposite.

jaywalking in the UK is one of these legislation that have been introduced by a suit in London, but the police forces have not been given any more resources to enforce it

there are many legislation that is in place that their is no resources to enforce.

i have been involved for the last 3 yrs with our local police authority forum

So much wrong with this thread, I don't even know where to start!

Really, is this what people become when they don't get their junk food fix?

No. Read the first post. This is what happens when people are verbally and racially abused because they walked through a drive thru. If you have nothing helpful to say, may I suggest you shut up and go whinge somewhere else.
