A4E and the like should have their contracts cancelled and the whole back-to-work scheme should be handled in-house by the DWP. This would save the Govt. a small fortune in not having to pay-out 'bonuses' on top of the 'running costs' they pay the providers.

I havent got to the stage where I would need to go onto the show. But I would want to go on if it got me a job quicker.

I can't stand this programme, it is so false. When they have people who have been out of work for years with no experience suddenly getting interviews it just makes a mockery of the whole thing and makes getting a job look easy. I'm sorry to say that in most of these cases they would not even get to interview stage, let alone get a job offer- and when they get a job offer just who do they provide as a reference? Like others have said, I also feel bad for the jobhunters who applied for the jobs in the programme- they never had a chance.

For me, whatever the sources might be. Whoever endorses you or what kind of program you chose, the bottom line of getting hired is your ability to take the job with knowledge and skills.

As the program demonstrates its mor about who you know and contacts.

She is so patroninsing. I'm surprised she hasn't ended up in Casualty and I don't mean the tv programme.

She also needs to be careful. Turning up at people's houses, and talking to them about their past - like the girl who had never been praised as a child and was bullied etc. I'm not saying those things don't impact confidence or current circumstances, but neither trainers nor coaches should ever enter the realms of a counsellor, possibly opening up quite deep, emotional issues for people. Hugging them and letting them cry on you, and asking them to talk about their past and being bullied is crossing the line, IMO.

(And even a professional counsellor wouldn't allow a hug!)

we also need them to be better qualified than her. she didnt have a clue how to help the lad who had been sanctioned. .

Helping him to get a job was pretty useful!

yes, luckily he got a job. otherwise he would have had no income for 6 months partly thanks to her inability to help with the sanction.
