So you spend £249.50 on wine you dont need , to get a 'free' flight?

I drink wine @ 3 for a tenner or so, therefore the wine is worth £3.50 a bottle to me.

This means the real cost of the flights is much less.

Let's do the maths again, this time for a return European flight.

    7500 clubcard points required.

    Yali £4.99 but buy in 6s to get 5% off = £4.74.

    1 Yali = 158 points.

    7500 points/158 points = 47.5 bottles required.

Make that 46 because I'm using my Tesco credit card which gives me more points.

    46 x £4.74 = £218

Take off the value of the wine @ £3.50/bottle as I'd have bought wine at that price anyway.

    46 x £3.50 = £161

So purchase cost £218 minus value of the wine £161 = £57.

(Actually a few quid less if you use the 5p off petrol/diesel vouchers that get spitted out.)

My return flight has cost me £57 instead of the £170 I usually pay.

And I got my online deliveries with a £10 off voucher so that's another £7 off the cost of the flight.

Plus I get 20kg of luggage, free food & drink on board and a scheduled British Airways flight with a choice of 3 slots a day from Heathrow.

The deal is good if you use it right, i'm just sick of the constant updates from a1cat telling us how many points they have, i keep looking at the thread to see if new items have been added, and have to trawl through "Kerching 2000points, im great, look at me, whoopdewhooo, my threads rock, blah blah blah"

also if it worth doing it for a non drinker? :j

(like all the Turners have been given away, cheap finest food for me :D )

I think it's great. I'm only just at 2000 points myself with this deal. When does the whole thing finish?

The Yali was just an example. But yes, that's the rub. If you are a regular white wine drinker and have the space to store it, then it's a no-brainer to stump up some cash (if you have some spare) and get a free flight into the bargain. Otherwise, if you can offload it to friends/family or at car boots etc, then great also. But if you don't "need" the wine, or can't use it or do so infrequently, or offload it, then I would avoid this deal personally.

Much better value ways to get Air Miles IMHO... but if you happen to be a white wine drinker, or even a dark beer fiend, then go for it...

Its too easy to get suckered into thinking you are saving money , but the truth could be they you end up drinking the wine because you have it , and you end up taking a 'cheaper' flight ticket because its there

I know someone who kept saying what a great deal he had because he saved £700 odd when he bought a new lap top from someone . He couldnt understand he hadnt saved anything , he had infact spent £700
