I second the idea of letting her try it on at home, that will get her a rocket up there to get working and will save her the embarassment of having to try it on it front of people.
I'm pretty big myself and sadly getting married soon so have resorted to eating homemade salads/porridge (no milk)/a lot of fresh fruit and homecooked veg dishes like ratouille and that should shed some of this before the day - maybe you could "suddenly" discover the joy of cooking veg dishes from scratch and have an overwhelming desire to share it with her?!
