I discussed it with my bridesmaids beforehand. There was an offer for 20% off at the time and rather than wait a few months and have to pay full price I decided to buy them earlier to save myself some money. Also as my bridesmaids wanted smaller sizes then they currently were it meant they could have their dresses ( they all have them at home ) and try them on over the months to see whether they fit etc Rather than buy them with a month to go and them worry they were going to have to go on some kind of crash diet.

I don't really understand why your so outraged at getting dresses however many months before the wedding, I've got enough to organise so wanted it over and done with and now I know what kind of colours I'll need for flowers etc to match the dresses which I wouldn't have known if I had have left it until just before the wedding. At the end of the day people are different and whilst yes some people might be happy buying their dresses a couple of months before their wedding I wasn't, it doesn't mean what I've done is wrong.

Good grief woman, I only asked for advice!!! I never said I was outraged NOR did I say you have done anything wrong. I was asking for help. This is obviously the wrong place to ask. I will jog on

low carbing could get it off very quick and easily but e would have to 100% stick to it else it would end up with more going on. Personally I acceptpeople for who and what they are but I cannot believe with a wedding coming up she hasnt realised that she has put a little on. Could she be pregnant?
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

I can totally understand the stress this issue is causing but you tried to save money by buying the bridesmaids dresses early, knowing your friend's weight goes up and down. It was always going to be a bit of a gamble so it's not entirely your friend's fault, it was ultimately your choice and unfortunately it backfired. You might find a seamstress who can sort out the dress, just because that particular dress is discontinued, it doesn't mean to say the fabric was. I got married three years ago and I know how stressful it can be - a bit of perspective works wonders though - think of practical ways to solve it instead of insulting such a good friend!

i dont think there is any need for that, you did single out her post and made it sound like buying dresses more than a few months in advance was the most ridiculous thing you had heard.... when in fact id say its common practise,
some shops require longer than 5 months to make the dresses, deliver them and then you might need time for alterations etc

I feel the OPs pain though, I got my adult dresses in the january sale, a full 6 months before my wedding,
since then one of the BMs fell pregnant and is now not prepared to travel to the wedding, so wont be wearing one,
another one of the BMs needs checking into some sort of mental institution for people who cant have a boyfriend AND friends... we are no longer friends but im quite lucky really as she demanded we order a size 18 and after seeing her in town the other day its quite clear she would have needed a 22/24
and finally my 3rd BM has been a star at weight watcher and lost 2 stone and looks amazing in her dress,

i think i would have been in the same situation as the OP if me and BM2 hadnt fallen out

She's clearly turned to food for comfort since losing you as a friend!

the power of spanx..... made me lose about 4 inches around the top of my thighs to get into a dress that fitted perfected everywhere else! (well, i think it was special offer QVC-version spanx, but worked a treat...although wasn't the most comfortable thing to wear all day, but better than ripping the dress when i sat down!)
