Interesting page. Clicking on 'Find out more' beneath each reward produces interesting results, e.g.:
    • Tesco: valid 3 months
    • John Lewis/Waitrose: no expiry date
    • Morrisons: no expiry date
so on validity, Tesco lose out to Waitrose and Morrisons in the supermarket stakes.

Other vouchers have differing expiry dates, so it's worth checking if you are saving up.

If you're not buying Saturday and Sunday editions of the Mail every week, it's worth clicking on the T+Cs link to see how you would be affected, e.g. gold/silver/offtrack status.
Collection period starts from the date of issue of the 1st valid code entered after a reset event (or before a reset event if the weekend of code entry results in a lapsed state, e.g. they entered 1 code but need 2 to stay on target) Collection period runs for either 7 issue events if all codes entered or 8 issue events if one or more codes are omitted
Collection periods can be reset by the user only at the point where they have lapsed from Gold to Silver. Other than that it is a system reset only
Collection periods can be reset automatically by the system if a user omits more than 3 codes within an 8 issue event window from the period start
If a user qualifies for Gold or top level reward they will be offered a choice of the Gold or top level reward
If a user qualifies for Silver they will only be offered the Silver rewards or 2nd level rewards
On the pre-select screen a user will only be shown the Gold rewards to choose from unless they have lapsed to Silver which will automatically de-select any Gold rewards and offer them the chance to pre-select a Silver if they have decided not to reset
(Issue Event : A Saturday or Sunday when a unique number is included within the publication)

My Tesco voucher arrived today, in spite of the 'delay' e-mail, so not too bad. The 'voucher' is in fact a Tesco gift card special edition and can be used online as well as instore. BUT there is an important restriction. This is on the back of the card:

'The card and balance will expire three months from last card use.'

I wonder if this restriction will apply to vouchers for other brands. If so, it will be difficult to accumulate a number of them and use them all at the same time.

To be honest I don't think it matters as looking at the available rewards (store vouchers, cinema tickets, DVDs, or a pizza), how many of them would you want to collect several of and use all at once? (I can possibly see a case for multiple cinema vouchers if visiting as a group)

If you really think you'll be collecting lots to save up and use at once, then visit

    https://mailrewardsclub.mailonline.co.uk/WeekendClub/products/all

and click on the 'Find out more' link of the reward in question where at the bottom of what pops up, it will probably say "Terms and conditions apply. Voucher valid ..."

BUT the T&Cs for the Tesco card says "expire three months from last card use" - NOT FROM ISSUE

So all you need to do is SPEND 1p from the card or TOP-UP the card by 1p every 12 weeks and you can keep the balance for as long as you wish to do so. :)

I know you aren't really being serious (topping up a giftcard or being worried about expiry dates).

Let's be honest, who can't make use of a full £5 in Tesco in one go, making the whole, usage period or carry-over credit thing irrelevant. Even if you have no local Tesco, I'm sure you or someone you know will use a Tesco within three months, assuming they live somewhere in the Great Britain'ish region (except perhaps the Scottish Isles, but I wouldn't be surprised if they've got a small branch out on some of those these days, as part of assimilating all our shopping in a Borg like fashion).

Resistance is futile, Tesco will assimilate all your local shops.

Edit: out of curiosity I had a quick look: they already have a store in the main towns on both the Orkney and Shetland Isles, as well as one at Stornoway on the Outer Hebrides. Is there no stopping them?

Well, yes and no. The Mail T+Cs for the Tesco card show
Voucher valid for 3 months from date of dispatch.
(so less than three months allowing for the post). Seems pretty clear to me.

As for your suggestion of spending 1p or reloading 1p, I don't think you are 100% serious. ;) What can you buy for 1p at Tesco these days?

I've pre-selected a £5 Tesco card as my next reward; presumably that means I'll receive another card in the post rather than having an additional £5 credit loaded onto my first one? I'll keep this card just in case after using it, but it seems silly (and not very green) sending out plastic cards rather than paper vouchers assuming the intention is you dispose of them after spending the £5.
