Please can someone refer me to open A&L Premier Plus account? We'll both get £50 cash
There is a special thread on the Referrers Board, but I've sent you a PM: see 'Private Messages' link in the 'Welcome, garethjf' box above.
  •
this is the first time i have posted and i am so mad i am motivated to do so to warn everybody of the appalling service and the level of charges both i and my partner have incurred at the hands of A & L. Their failure to set up direct debits has cost my partner a total of 65 pounds so far. They failed to set up 25% of my direct debits which cost me invaluable time in sorting them out. They are also opportunistic and punitive in their charging. I have lost the initial incentive money and more as a result and i would say i manage my money quite well. I am transferring back to Halifax.

oh and read the article in the sunday times 4th Sept if you think i am the only one with problems with A & L

It has been told many times here that there is no need to switch account. Keep your old account, open new A&L account to get incentive money, decent interest rate, free travel insurance. Then - if you want to close the old account - you can transfer DDs one-by-one manually.
  • Thanks for that but I don't understand. If all of your salary is going into the A & L account, which is what you have to do initially and to get the better rate of interest - how can you leave your direct debits going out of an account with no money int it

You don't have to switch your salary to A&L. You can make a transfer from your old account and then (if necessary) back. Yes, if you are very tight with money, this could be a problem.
  • I tried to get an account with A&L but I was turned down so I went for the Cahoot account but I found their customer service (before even being accepted) was poor. After months of waiting I gave up and plumped for Smile which accepted me immediately and within a week I have a current and savings account and a new credit card. So far I am really pleased with their customer service and their efficiency is incredible.
  • Bad service at setting up stage isnt always a taste of what is to come. I had terrible trouble with Citibank when setting up an account with them and since it has been opened I have had no problems at all.

  • Re A & L recommends. Neither my sponsor, nor nor the person I have recommended have received anything. We have all met the criteria. All I get as response to e-mails is "we are looking into it" (For over a month now) To telephone call 17mins and then passed to another office which cuts you off. Have now received a snail mail letter stating "looking into it will take time" If nothing by end Oct it will be either Ombudsman or bye-bye A & L and total withdrawal of all funds (have been maxing out each month to date)

I have A&L Premier Plus account, no problems setting up, can do everything from using internet account, easy. YOU NOW ONLY NEED £500 a month going in, and you can keep your existing account, setup a standing order to the A+L account of £500 a month and then not use the account but get £50 FREE after 8 weeks, refer more people and tell them to do the same to earn another £50 quid.
