I'm not sure it is fair to call this bait and switch. They have been paying savings rates on their current account for at least 4 years.

But I agree there is virtually nothing to recommend about IF any more.

  • I have a current account with the Bank of Scotland. I have no overdraft, but occasionally do need an overdraft just in case. If I do go into overdraft, I always pay it off as soon as I get it. I would like a current account that has no minimum pay-in and with a free £100 overdraft facility, but with a good(ish) interest rate. Does such a thing exist?

For anyone who has recently opened an A+L Premier/Premier Plus current account or is thinking of doing so.....I've only just discovered that A+L offer £50 to anyone who recommends the Premier or the Premier Plus Current Account to a 'friend' But better yet the person opening the account also gets £50. The payments are added to each persons account within 8 weeks of the new account being credited with it's first minimum monthly deposit.

For more info click on this link (not a direct referral, just a link to a page on the A+L website)......

    http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/currentaccounts/index.asp?page=recommend-friend&ct=curraccmenu

It seems incredibly straight-forward and you can take advantage of it even if you've already gone ahead and opened your account (as long as it wasn't more than a few weeks ago I suppose!)

If anyone wants to make a really good deal on a current account even better send me a private message and I'd be more than happy to be your referral.

    Cheers

Finally got around to upgrading my A+L Premier current account to a Premier Plus. Did it over the phone - took minutes and all my old account details stay the same. :)

Only difference will be the 5% interest rate and the lack of paper statements (which will be an eco-friendly bonus!)
  • Hi there,

i'm knew to these forums though i've been reading the newsletter for a while now.
I have and Alliance & Leicester account but no-one to recommend it to. Is there anyone here who would i could refer so that we can both earn £50?
