When I buried our daughter, we were heartbroken. Our perfect, beautiful much wanted daughter. I will never, ever get over losing her. Not long ago we showed one of the few pictures we have of her to a couple that we have become close recently. They gasped and the look on their faces which they so kindly tried to hide was plain to see. Maybe we should of warned them but you see, to us she was perfect, beautiful. But they saw a young baby with half of her lower face missing due to a birth defect. Just one of the many defects that played a part in killing her. I guess to them she was "scary" even. So you see Pigpen hearing babies being called ugly and being spoken about in the way you were doing (not the parents...them I don't give a "fig" about") REALLY hurt me, and whilst this is not your fault, I mean, how can you be responsible for how anyone that reads a thread feel? I thought I could at least explain in some way why I felt compelled to reply to what you had wrote about that unborn baby and that it was not just me "Picking fights"

you cannot judge everyone by your own experiences though that is also part of life.. yes you were dealt the crappiest hand any parent could ever dare think about and it is obviiously still very fresh and raw for you.. the loss of a child must be horrific, something I am glad I have not experienced and I am sure it is something any person wouldn't wish on someone else. My parents lost their first child at 30 days old but they don't think every child in the world is beautiful and lovely to behold.. they grew beyond that in time.. every life is a gift yes, but that doesn't mean every gift is aesthetically pleasing.

I am sorry to hear of your loss though.. :( .. it is so very very unfair and completely the wrong order of things for a parent to bury a child.

I joined pigpen in an HHC at 1.30 and 2 hours later I emerged - it took me 2 hours to fill in all the forms the benefit people wanted - and find all the right paperwork and print of stuff - of course I didnt need 3/4s of it!!! More trees wasted! Anyway they were 2 huge frogs and now they are done - i really didnt expect them to take so long - they had to be handed into different offices in different parts of the town and I did that too - all the people invloved were really helpful and I also saw someone I havent seen for about a year and we will catch up next month when she is on hols.

the exchanges on the thread today really upset me and I didnt feel equipped to reply - it really puts me off posting when I think that others think we are unfriendly and unwelcoming - i thought we were friendly and certainly dont think we are cliquey! maybe I am being naive.

Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

  • My books actually fit into their respective shelves...does that count as organising them?

Oh, except for the music ones which live on the bottom part of the coffee table.

Minion is off with KH again. His response to the all clear on her echocardiogram was 'well I knew that'. Asked him if next time he could let me know the lottery numbers for Saturday and leave the medical stuff to people who know what they're doing [sigh].

BTW, Springtime, there is a world of difference between a child that has a birth defect and one that is plain ugly. Just as there is a difference between a giggle about someone who is horrible on the inside (which they will never hear) and directly wishing harm on someone. I have seen plenty of little ones who have been born too early for various reasons in working in the area and not one was ugly, even with the most terrible abnormalities - but I have also seen children with mean faces and natures in the playground, as well as those who exemplify the phrase 'a face only a mother could love', but are absolutely adorable, the poor little things. This wasn't a joke about children with medical issues or bereavement.

Hope you're alright, Piggers and you have someone you can let steam off to about what news has made you feel bad.

[goes off to check the colour thingy that Valli had, as I have never had anything resembling a sight test when taking RA meds....]
