...After BR (only 2 months ago) I feel very 'in order' for the 1st time in my life...
I'm pleased to hear that.
You know better than I there are many downsides to bankruptcy, but one massive upside is the clean start.
That's what I can't quite fathom with the OP.
He's bankrupt, yet his affairs still seem to be in a shambles.0 -

I agree....this thread really is descending into chaos.
I asked if, the OP petitioned for their own bankruptcy?
Or whether the OP was 'made bankrupt' by an external creditor?
[The latter may explain the existing chaos, as it may be likely the OP was entirely unprepared for this situation??]
...from the OP's first post. The bottom line is I am now bankrupt - was made bankrupt back in February -
However, it does occur to me that there are some inconsistencies in the explanation of affairs?
The use of cheques, for example?
[writing out a cheque for goods, knowing that there are insufficient funds within the account to meet that cheque, may well be a criminal offence? However, I understand the concept of silencing the creditor with the bit of paper!]
Perhaps the 'bankruptcy' is in fact simply the OP's perception of the 'financial mess?'
Where is the consultation with an independent debt advisor?
Others have questioned the Receiver's input, especially regarding the SOA?
Until we receive an answer to these basic questions, we cannot hope to help the OP, since no-one really knows from what standpoint to commence offering advice. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
just s few thoughts - your wife needs to get a job whatever it is, many people hold out for a job similar to their last as other options are beneith them or not what they think they are too good for x job. With the issues you have she needs to get one whatever.
What sort of premises do you rent? Can you downsize? You only need a 1 bed place really. Could you find one nearer your step sons home?
I cant see why/how you have been allowed a car on rental, if its for your wifes sons transport then it is up to her to pay for it, harsh i know. Perhaps she could use the bus/train etc and go with him on the journey if your not happy for him to travel alone, after at the moment she has time on her hands.
Ultimately you will be the one getting in all sorts of trouble if you are officially bankrupt and still paying people money that was borrowed pre bankrupcy, also you simply cant afford it.
Brankrupcy has a way of making you re assess things, pre mine i would never have gone into netto, aldi, lidl etc and would not have been seen anywhere even near the door of the charity shop but now i think why was i so stupid.
Good luck and i hope you can get your mind round to what you have to do, sometimes it takes a while beleive me.0 -
