With all due respect when you are paying the equivilent of 1 1/2 bangers each month who cares about reliability.
In all seriousness if you could get a 500 car and make it last 1 year thats a saving of £5,500 per year on your current situation
Wih your wife what about a part time job in a shop of something like that, that way you dont need childcare and could improve your situation by about £500pm, only you know your situation but that may be achievableHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Whether it sounds like excuses or not, the simple fact is you can't afford it. So I think it would help you to look through your SOA and being ruthless. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. I know this sounds harsh but as you've said you've lost previous housing and this has been going on a long while.Gulliver2011 wrote: »Its only because I paniced when he rang work on Firday that I said I would see if we could do this. Yes an older car would cost more overall in repairs, but not the amount per month you're paying now! How far away is your work? Could you manage on public transport or even walking/bike?
Is your wife not claiming contribution based jobseekers or has she been unemployed more than 6 months? Yes ok she may be a middle manager but at the moment you simply need money coming in so she can't afford to be fussy, a job is a job. Also remember that you would be likely to get help from tax credits towards childcare.
Have you checked your overall benefit entitlement? Are you getting the right tax credits, child benefit etc?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

You need to stop this and speak to your employer. If this was owed pre bankruptcy you are simply not allowed to pay it. You can't afford to be without your wages.Gulliver2011 wrote: »Its only because I paniced when he rang work on Firday that I said I would see if we could do this.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Hi Mate
Wouldn't it be worth you looking at working tax credits and / or the wife looking at unemployment support? £100 odd pound every few weeks be better then nothing and as she has worked and contributed to the system, she is entitled to that at the very least surely.0 -
Yes I use public transport everyday and ride to the station and then walk to work - so I don't even need a car - in my dark times I thought I would just rent a room inclusive of bills for £200 a month and have almost £1800 left over sometimes feels appealing and does feel like I am paying for my wife and step son a lot.0

Would I be entitled to tax credits then even though I am bankrupt0

bankruptcy has no effect on what benefits or tax credits people are entitled toHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Maybe your wife could lower her standards and even 20 hours a week in a supermarket is at least bringing something in.
You need to show here this thread.
You are not allowed by law to pay back friends and family whilst you are in bankruptcy,
Explain things to your boss, if he deducts it he will also be breaking the law.
Tell your 'friend' that you are not allowed to pay him back while you are bankrupt, he has to join the ranks of 'creditor'
if he still harrasses you report him to the police. simple.
Good luck, Im going away for a couple of days and I'll catch up with your thread on Tuesday night.
Good luck and I hope youre not panicking so much now.
Dont forget, get your OH to read this thread. She is way overspending on the household groceries.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Hi,
You have put your road tax in at £572 per month !
As said earlier, your car costs are simply not possible. If you keep paying your car rental and friends debts that were included in bankruptcy then something else will suffer, possibly electricity in which case you would be threatened with disconnection unless you agreed to have a pre pay meter installed which would collect ongoing plus arrears.
You need to follow the very basics of all debt advice, priority and non priority debt.
Pay your priorities of rent (you may well need to find cheaper) council tax, elec, oil, and water, meeting your ongoing costs in full.
Get a cheap car, or find another way to get your child to school.
Use money for housekeeping but attempt to cut this down if possible.
DONT pay any bankruptcy debts.
As you say, you cannot carry on as you are, the suggestions given by todays posters will allow you to become solvent, which is a far more pleasant place to be.
Good luck.

I assumed the car tax figure was somewhere to put the rental costs... the £132 per week mentioned in post #13 works out at £572 per month. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN
