Social Services - Can't work, can't claim

My daughter is 16 next april, no my unborn baby is not on a plan. Sorry, I thought I had answered every question.
Perhaps I also should have said, in addition to no case to answer, no safeguarding issues were found by social services.
no I don't earn £30,000 as a hairdresser. That was a flippant post from a very long time ago. I never even took the prize up because it seemed to disappear, but that is probably a whole different story. There must have been safeguarding issues for a plan to be put in place.
When is the next review?
How long has she been on the plan?
Does the plan specifically say she cannot stay in the house by herself whilst you work? Did you raise your concerns at the conference re this part of the plan?Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
There were no safeguarding issues from the original authority. It was only when we moved, and the new authority got wind of it that they did put safeguarding in place. Without going into too much detail this was in part by an initial report containing many inaccuracies. Anyway, that's by the by I guess. I have a solicitor fighting that aspect for me, i've just been to see the police and they advised me to get my MP involved, which I have to admit I hadn't thought of.
I have been telling them since January that when I went back to work I would find it extremely difficult to attend meetings. No, nothing in her plan says she can't be left alone, in fact her core group professionals always comment on how mature and competent she is for her age.
She's been on the plan since January, her next review is September.
I just want to be able to work if truth be told, and not because all I care about is my career, but to be able to provide a good standard of living for my child.Make £365 in £365 days in 2011 - 3/365£11000 in 2010 - 9/11000Sealed Pot Challenge Member No 1180 - £20.73Dare not even add up my debts yet - sorry - i'm a wuss i know.LBM - anticipated within next hour or so.0 -
wow - obviously the request for constructive and/or positive posts went unnoticed.
Once again thank you so much to the people who have made helpful comments, to the others, well, what can I say, my original post was about what to do when you don't seem to be able to obtain any income stream what so ever. To suggest I 'stop thinking about myself and start being a mother' doesn't really serve any useful purpose does it? Surely as a mother, I could be forgiven for wanting to obtain money to feed and house my child?
What if constructive, in your case, means you doing more to keep your child safe?
I thought you have an OH who earns? So why are you talking about having no income whatsoever?
As a mother, you could be forgiven for doing all in your power to ensure your dd is safe and doesn't end up being removed from your home because you'd rather work. You won't be penniless, as I've said, so talking of feeding your child is a bit OTT!
I just want to be able to work if truth be told, and not because all I care about is my career, but to be able to provide a good standard of living for my child.
As I said, it's not a case of being able to feed her or not, but maintaining your current standard of living.
As a parent, I'd prefer to keep my child safe, but each unto their own, I guess.0 -
my child is safe, i think you perhaps need to read some of the other parts of my post.
I really don't think it's unreasonable to be able to either a) work b) claim income support c) claim jsa or d) have at least some form of income, especially when it comes to threats being made over incorrect facts. They are leaving me with no income whatsoever.
my daughter is nowhere near being taken away from me, her social worker said last week that they hope to have her off this plan by september, obviously it's only a 'hope to' but that is at least very encouraging news.
Yes my partner works but i think it would be reasonable to say that not many families would be able to cope if one partner's income suddenly disappeared.Make £365 in £365 days in 2011 - 3/365£11000 in 2010 - 9/11000Sealed Pot Challenge Member No 1180 - £20.73Dare not even add up my debts yet - sorry - i'm a wuss i know.LBM - anticipated within next hour or so.0 -

I've read your posts but I also know ss are forcing entry to your home! That suggests to me your dd is not considered to be safe, even if you think she is.
This is why I said it's not really much use asking people who cannot be given the full picture, as, from where I'm sitting, you are a parent who refuses to see how serious this is.
If they won't take her away, what will they do if they force entry and find her alone, and you refuse to stay home from work?
Why threaten that action if they have no intention of doing anything about it?
Many families would struggle to deal with the situation you describe far more than they'd struggle with a loss of one income. Can't you see that?0 -
I think someone mentioned looking for a childminder who would mind a 15 year old. These are extremely difficult to find, and the tax credit system does not help with childcare costs of a child of this age.
Something doesnt add up. If your income alone is £30k plus your partners then why on earth would you need tax credits to pay for childcare? Also, the LEA have to find a school place or put provisions in place so there is no reason not to have a school place - presumably there is a place but not to your standards etc.
Given the choice of having SS involved or one of you quitting work and downgrading your lifestyle there should be no choice. SS dont get involved for minor things so to stay involved they must have genuine reasons.0 -
Because i'm about to lose my job due to not being able to attend work and needing all this time off. This will put me in a position of having to find a less well paid job which will make it unlikely that i will be able to afford childcare.
I don't really think i came on here asking for advice over my daughter's cpp, i came asking what to do in a situation like this. i feel i have given more than enough information in the interests of clarity.
You say something doesn't add up, fair enough that is your opinion, however do you not also think something 'doesn't add up' when nspcc have today told me to start recording all meetings for evidence and to complain to DCS, and the police have suggested I get my MP involved to help resolve the situation.
I do sincerely hope you never find out how your life can be turned upside down by one malicious, anonymous phone call.Make £365 in £365 days in 2011 - 3/365£11000 in 2010 - 9/11000Sealed Pot Challenge Member No 1180 - £20.73Dare not even add up my debts yet - sorry - i'm a wuss i know.LBM - anticipated within next hour or so.0 -
I am now very confused - in your first post you say SS forced their way in, can you elaborate on what you mean by force - as a child protection social worker of many years they would not be able to do that, you then go on to talk about a police officer was the officer with the social worker? If the police were present then I suggest that there is some serious concerns about your daughter. Why was the social worker so concerned last week that she had to have support to visit the family home?
You then talk later about a police officer telling you to get your MP involved - I have yet to know an officer that would undermine a CP Plan in this manner.
You say you have just gone back to work - have you attended all other meetings, core groups are only usually held 2-3 times during the 6 months of the plan, and the review date is booked 6 months in advance so you have plenty of time to bok a day off.
I don't feel that you are telling us the full story or accepting that your daughter is at risk of significant and therfore not complying.
If you feel happier then PM me and I'll see if I can help further but on one hand you are saying it was forced entry and on the other the social worker beleives the plan can end - which is it?Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
oh and please don't presume, if you would like to ask a question feel free, i have tried to answer everyone, whether their questions are relevant or not. All schools in our area are oversubscribed, bar one, which wanted to put her 3 academic years lower (not due to ability i might add, she was always a top set child, but their blanket policy is to move any incoming child in years 9 or 10 down to year 8. Her core group felt, for obvious reasons, that this was an inappropriate placing for her.
We have been appealing at our local oversubscribed school for a few months now, but they have refused to even hear her appeal until the end of this month.Make £365 in £365 days in 2011 - 3/365£11000 in 2010 - 9/11000Sealed Pot Challenge Member No 1180 - £20.73Dare not even add up my debts yet - sorry - i'm a wuss i know.LBM - anticipated within next hour or so.0
