It's found 26 threats, infected 0, malicious 14, suspicious 12, total scanned 2184114, unable to scan 399.

should I cure these?

and then what next?...oh and how do I get the logs so that I can paste them for you?

Nice, yes cure them. The log is usually put on the root of the C drive. Probably worth a format and reinstall regardless, as that's a lot to find even allowing for a few false positives.

The SP3 disc was just so you could do a repair in case Dr Web or fixmbr caused the computer not to boot, but you can reinstall with just the normal XP disc and then apply the Windows updates after the fact. Just make sure you do the fixmbr / fixboot part previously mentioned from the XP recovery console.

Hard drive is being reformatted and xp reinstalled as we speak.

seems like this is the best option and hope I haven't missed backing up anything I need :eek:

frightening stuff but better than hubby's sledgehammer :rotfl:
