Bump - several new spammers on earlier today - of the classic variety: post about 6 scam offers & usually have the words "avail yourself" in them somewhere!
Plus several people plugging their own referral links + some plugging of the (in)famous Richard Hooper sites again. Please everyone, be very careful out there!0 -
Before the original thread gets deleted, here is a response I made on this one:Edna_Bucket wrote: »Looks to me like a hoax or an old version of a genuine PCI contact sheet that has been "scraped" by a scammer. Take a look at the genuine PCI form which has copyright till this year at the bottom - as opposed to 2005 on the other form given in the link:
http://contact.pci.edu/
No mention of "goodies" - just information on courses.
I seem to recall that this myth/hoax/scam has been doing the rounds for years.
Avoid - I'd say.
What was your motivation for posting this one Aimee888?0 -

Hi-test and vote isn't a scam. It may take a while to build up points, but i've had two lots of hmv vouchers from them so far (£25 in total i think).

A couple of innocent "thanks" posts, and then the spam, as I commented on a spam thread - reproduced below before thread gets deleted.Edna_Bucket wrote: »It's spam from a spammer - new user "nasika30" follows the same format as the spammer from the other day who posted the "Pennsylvania Culinary Institute" spam link.
The new tactic seems to be to post 2 quick "thanks" notes on other MSE threads to appear to be a genuine newbie, and then wade in with a spam link of their own. That's exactly what the last person did and the same is repeated here - they also have a habit of using an unusual first name followed by two or three numbers as the user ID (no offence to genuine MSE'ers who also have that format!!)
This is probably the very same spammer having another try.

Nice work Edna, we could do with another BG on here0

Will anyone make a bet with me that new poster "Becky30" 's 3rd post (still to be made) will be a spam link?
I'd love to be proved wrong, but let's see if the current trend coninues!!!0 -
Another one - MissLotus26 now reported.Edna_Bucket wrote: »Don't say thanks - this is another wretched "new model" spammer!! Follows the current format:
1. (usually) a female orientated username ID, followed by two random numbers.
2. Posts 2 "thanks" messages followed the the OPs name on a genuine thread to look legit.
3. Post number 3 is the spam payload - as here.

Rather a lot of these recently - sample response from me before the thread gets deleted by Abuse:Edna_Bucket wrote: »What an outlandish coincidence! diamondback and snoopy_410 both joined MSE today to promote the benefits of this meaningless website loaded with affiliate links everywhere...
...and they both have the writing style of poster Zahair whatever he was called who was deleted yesterday...
As Harry Hill would say - what are the chances of that?
Give it up guys - we're fed up with your spamming and creation of new ideas. Please go and play your juvenile games somewhere else?
