The company doing the PIP trials is not Atos Origin. It is G4S (formerley Group 4 Securicor) who have now branched out into new areas such as medico-legal, Forensic Science and contracting to such as the DWP for things like The Work Programme and the PIP trials.

Why does it matter that the company they will be using to asses us on the change over to PIP have also been involved with helping the police catch sex offenders? What's that got to do with us? ATOS had never done anything relevant to the role at all either. I'm just glad sombody's realised that not using ATOS for a start would be a good move.
Of course the company running trials for the assessment process will be given the details of those who've agreed to it, how on earth could they asses them otherwise?
What am I missing here?
I'd imagine it would be nice to be asked before your personal details are passed on to a company dealing with catching sex offenders for the police. God forbid they get there files mixed up, it wouldn't be the first time, then you end up tarred because they are chasing you as a sex offender.:rotfl:

Agreed? Not according to this report they just pass on your personal details without asking and the company appraoaches you.

I really think that's a bit of a stretch of the imagination tbh. Whatever other work the company may do (and good work in this case by the sounds of it) really is completely irrelevant. They are the people the government have employed to do this job, we don't get to chose who does it they do and they will ultimately need all of our details to carry out the job they have been given."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

I agree - it is the equivalent of ATOS Medical sharing your details with ATOS Occu Health, who may then pass the details to a potential employer!
marthdata, if that is what you are 'angry' about your concerns are unfounded. The different arms of the company are run entirely separately, they are in effect different companies under the same umbrella.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I started off thinking Benefits and Work was a useful resource, but I am increasingly getting annoyed at their inflamatory statements and scaremongering. I won't be renewing my membership.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0

I don't understand how people could wish to profit from those struggling to claim benefits. I think the site owners are very intelligent, the scaremongering encourages people to join because they are convinced that they need their help.
If people do want to pay, I wonder if there could be some way to give a donation to DIAL or CAB, almost in the way that you do with the PDSA? It might help them to increase their resources, so in turn they could help more people?Gone ... or have I?0 -

[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

They may not be unfounded, the members only article points out a very interesting point.
Namely, that whatever they write about you once they have 'medically' examined is going to be kept secret from you, you will not be allowed to see what they have on file about you.
Not only is this going to be in serious breach of the data protection act, its likely to also be in breach of the medical reports act (cant recall exact name of legislation).
It also shows their assessors are in breach of GMC or NMWC rules too.
So, already they plan to operate unethically and illegally.
So why would you think your data is actually safe?[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
