We are moving into our first new house. I wasnt aware there was going to be a meter installed but there is.

What options do i have to have this removed as i think it may work out expensive?

Who decides this? I was never made aware of this initially so not aware of what costs i may face, even if it goes in favour for me. Who could i speak with to get some advice?

Who decides this? OFWAT and the government I was never made aware of this initially what do you mean ? Did you put the meter in ? Was it already there ? Do you mean when you rented / bought you were not told you could not remove it ?so not aware of what costs i may face check on your water companies web site, there will be a scheme of charges and it will tell you how much a cubic meter is > a cubic meter is 1000 litres., even if it goes in favour for me. Who could i speak with to get some advice advice about what ??

    thanks

If the property already have a meter then I am afraid you are stuck with it..end of and no one can help.
If they are putting a meter in as part of a change of occupier again I am afraid there is nothing you can do.
They are legally able to do this.

Only if YOU have the meter installed can it be removed ( it does not get removed but you revert back to RV) and that is within a year..although I do think at least one company gives you 2 years now.

Although to be honest sooner or later everyone is going to be on a meter as it is the only fair rate of charge.

When I went to my local petrol station this morning, I found to my horror that they have fitted a meter to the pump -

Pay for your own water - not expect everyone else to do it for you !!

Surprisngly you missed out the keyword THINK!! For clarity i have highlighted it for you so you will pay attention to what i wrote.

It could work in favour for me but since EVERYONE i have spoken with, has said it works out expensive - why should i be the only one paying for the big whack when others are getting away with?

Of course i understand everyone will have a meter eventually, but when? When they decide a new plan which is cheaper for everyone after the original customers pay the full whack?

So dont wrote !!!!!!, read carefully before posting.

You wont be the only one paying the big whack. and whilst everyone you may have spoken to has said that its expensive, you havent spoken to everyone. For me, its cheaper to have a meter.

    Thank God for some reassurance....

Hope you dont mind me asking but when you say 'me', do you live on your own? Or with a family? I assume you live on your own otherwise the correct grammar should be 'us'. If so were talking about more than one person here - yes most likely its cheap for those that live alone as your only paying for........ one person... this is why i wrote "We are moving..."
