OMG I forgot I had this thread in subscribed. It was somewhere on page 2 .

I think the title should read 2 meals for £1 now. It was started in 2006.

I've just done the same! I think the prices are a bit optimistic but a cheap meal is a cheap meal.

I agree, it's a great thread but needs updating. Is there anyway we could 'revive' it taking into account 2014 inflation? My little one and I have beans and cheese on toast a couple of times a week and we do really enjoy it, but I could do with 'branching out' to other cheap recipes I guess!

Even with bulk cooking ect the cheapest I can make a meal for me (granted I am only making meals for myself) is c£1. Is it really still possible to make a meal for £0.50 for 2 people?

    Yes definitely edinburghlad!

Have a look for agirlcalledjacks website/blog. You will find detailed the 8p (iirc) burger. It's a veggie burger very similar to burger kings offering but a gourmet world away in a lot of ways. Plus she also details how to use half the ingredients for the burgers and I think half for soup. This is just an example.

Buying yellow stickers helps too, cutting down on meat helps.

I look forward to someone starting a new thread on this though! To update everything to 2014 prices. I can already think of a few accomplished o/sers who will be fantastic at putting it all together.

I might be slightly off subject so I apologies if that's the case. Been a member a few years, but only recently started using MSE.

Morrisons have an offer in the Sun newspaper on Thursday (31st). £5 off when you spend £10 on meat or fish. Hopefully that's will allow some people to cut the cost of their meals?
  • This weeks offer for morrisons is spend £5 on fruit & veg hand over this weeks voucher from the sun free f&v I got mine yesterday
