hi, hope DS has accepted his results by now and realised that there's more out there than the top two uni's though if he went to one of them you could visit the LT household when you visited him :)

we have a poorly puddy cat here at the moment, she's got cystitus the poor love, and is playing silly bu99ers when we're trying to get her tablets down her. She's still got the energy to fight us on that issue.

had relatively good news at work today, means i can start playing with my debt numbers again :)

Lemontree - yay to good news at work - phew to juggling numbers and oh dear your poor cat a gentle hug to the moggy - I think I confused you all, when I said the top two universities in the country, I meant scotland! We wouldnt' consider an English university when ours are free :) and its Edi or Aber he was thinking of initially.

KC proper wildlife indeed - currently staring at a bunny in the garden very wildlife-ish but not so dramatic as raptors!

Maty you're very at home here, thats what I'm telling my ds, as long as he's happy I'm happy - and stuff

VL you're right re the cabbage and Cheri, I'm sorry but caribean cabbage (?) that sounds a bit, um, interesting - we normally do it pan fried with ham (sorry you veggies!)

    Morning all

Today coffee and then attack the day, I need a list and I have a bit of potential 'interesting or good' news re that job. I've been asked to formally apply, we're just working out when it will be advertised etc

And, more paid for for next week too and a bit of sept lined up:j

:) coffee first, then list, priorites and all that, then a canter about the diaries methinks :)

    Kettles on......................any takers?

Yes please, I'll have another cuppa tea.

I *eventually* sussed that you meant the Scottish ones, Pippi, especially after I saw a news report from the Scottish Minister for Education - though *now* I'm surprised that you're referring to Aber - not Glasgow?

  • Money update

PAD today of 28.78 to one cc (lloyds)
PAD of 17.40 on the capital one

Balance on each now 1800/2100(limit) on capital one, on lloyds £900/1000(limit) this needs work! To get these down over the next few months - the capital one is high due to paying that other card off at the crazy discount price so 900 of that balance was essentially a transfer to clear it, onwards

RBs - £328 left of OD - balance minus £650
LLoyds - £240 left of overdraft - balance minus £860

I'm writing it out to remind me it aint great but we aint down the drain yet!

However, we've alot of food in, no children until the 22nd and apart from dd payment, the main bill will be petrol and I've a web bill to pay for web development (£140) - only going into town on a paid work day

Need to crack on with ebay listing, web work, weeding etc and the flowers should provide eh? Heres hoping.

    Coffee........................

    Gluten free biccie?

Hmm, maybe its cos I'm an 'east coaster' I don't really think much about Glasgow (hides under parapet), I don't dislike it, we haven't ruled it out, but we just haven't even considered it tbh, - for physical sciences Aberdeen, st A, Heriot Watt etc are fantastic and Edinburgh is just a good university on so many levels it was his first choice but sadly they upped thier entry stuff and he's not at that kind of level atm

He's keen on Dundee and Heriot Watt too for the subjects he's interested in that would be a good choice, but atm he's not got the grades to go there............hence the feeling down I think.

    Gotcha now, thanks!

Pippi, aren't those figures looking better? Before you went on holiday, you were within maybe £50 of your overdraft limit? And payments to penguinchops are on the rise ...

Thanks for the biccie. Yum :)

  • KC I've put the figures up there to make me think, like you said, OK its not great but its better than June!

TBH with ds I'm a bit worried, he's hell bent on going to university, doesn't really know what he wants to do, but I get the impression that if he doesn't go, he'll feel a failure, like its expected of him. I certainly don't expect him to go, if he wants to go then great, equally if he doesn't I just want him to find what makes him happy and go with that. I think theres far too much pressure for kids to go to uni - when it doesn't suit everyone. Well have several natters when he's back - I want him to enjoy life, so his balance of working harder to achieve whatever he fancies or not is his call really - all I can do is give him options and qualifications do give you options. His bf has left school and is half way through a blacksmithing course, loves it, best decision he ever made, he told us in the summer - happiness I think is the key to a good life.

    And on that note

    My happy little life today

Blowing a hooly outside - its november right?
Hens to feed and eggs to collect
Got a bit of cooking to do - pasta sauce from collected manky tomatoes and courgettes (make it sound so appealing don't I?) :)
Eggs to sort for a chum who wants 12 (£2) will pop out with them enroute to work later
Watering and polytunnel things to do for a small fee :) in town
Need to dry some reduced sage I got (15p) as it doesn't freeze well
    Basil to pick and freeze
    same for tomatoes
Cordial syrup is made, need grab last of the flowers
Take polytunnel posts, pick axe and fencing spike out of back of car
    Pay web lady today
Think about how much I can pay to penguin face
Nepeta and a few other things to take photos of and put on ebay later
plants for propagation to pot up - need check if I have any compost (mainly named scented geraniums - nice house plants, I think potentially a good all year round seller) and a few herbs
    Water plants
Repot new basil, my own first one is beginning to slow down a bit but having picked it for ages I'm happy enough
Checklist for stripeystores - keiss did a brilliant job at topping it all up - the cupboards are full to bursting!
A bit of web work for me
A bit of web research for local recycling charity
    Perhaps a blog
A bit of corrections to keep the momentum up on that
    Bit of washing (boring bit)
Bit of tidying up (extremely boring bit, but trying to keep tidy til cheery gets here)
Bit of office shifting to do, I want bring my data and files home, but NO idea where to put them!
Phone landlord again, wasn't in yesterday when I bravely rang!
Pick more veg from garden at work (my own plot)

Managed to get a bookcase for £20 through the recycling charity, not quite what I wanted but over 6ft high and will fit a bit of the books into that which will free up some boxes to put files in

BUt hasn't he got another year to get his grades up Pippi? I'm all confusled with how they do things these days! :o

:T :T for the job, looking promising!

I'll have a cuppa if it's going :) Had a lovely lie in this morning - got appointment with the surgeon this morning so should know about throat-slitting operation soon  Let's hope they let me have one week at work after my holidays to catch up before making me have another 2 weeks off :p
  • Cheery here's a cuppa - eek to the dr etc (())

I get confused now too, but alot of uni's up here have really upped the entry requirements and are doing a clear 'first sit only' results count for entry - very hard I think.

The potential job, yup, looking very interesting, fingers crossed indeed, initially its temporary, but even that would see me through the darker winter months and make such a positive dent in debts.

Hey! I told you last time - don't be tidying up on my account!!  Really! I'l feel rotten if you do, with so many other things to do! I wish you could have made it over here a few weeks back - if only to have seen the state of my house and realised there's really no need! :p
