What a great day you've had! And I hopped on to ebay, now that I know a particular plant you're selling, and finally found you - I've put you on my saved seller list now
I *know* it won't survive the winter here when I've so much still to plant .... do you sell it regularly, Pippi? Can I order it from you next year?
And what are the bags that Greying has saved for you, is that the plastic bags that magazines come in? I still get *some* of those ...
And most important of all ....
Good luck for tomorrow !!!!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Ay up KC - the bags I sent to Pippi are the 'zip lock' types - variety of sizes, but alot of 2 or 3 inch square if I recall, and a couple of bigger ones that I think reflective waistcoats had come in. HTH
Great charity and loo roll haul Pippi - hope you don't start a 'run' on stocks on the isle of flowers! :rotfl:

Can you use the £30 spend to help out with dried goods for the stripy store cupboard - rice, pasta, lentils, beans, - that sort of thing? O maybe tins?
Or do they do what my local Sainsbugs and Tesco are doing, 3 types of meat for £10? I was looking today and they had whole chickens, a mix of thighs and legs, chicken breasts, lamb shanks, stewing steak all there. Unfortunately my freezer is almost full so I couldn't take advantage this timeMy slow cooker would have been very happy
I am always worried about stock piling loo rolls since I found mice had started using mine for bedding  I got rid of the mice and moved where I stored them after that.
Anyone remember the sugar shortage in to 70's? A friends Granny bought a alb every time she went shopping, although she hardly used sugar, and stashed them in her dresser. When she died and they were emptying the house they found them & as they started to remove them all that was left was the packet fronts. The rest had been eaten by mice :j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

Re the coriander debate, yes, I totally agree that the roots have more taste. I know Home-made is always best, but if you've ever made carrot and coriander soup with just the leaves and thought it lacked the oomph that 'shop bought' had, try making it again with some roots (washed, naturally!) and you'll discover what bits of the plant all the giant food companies have been using all this time .......... I just chopped my roots up, and because I was blitzing it anyway, they were perfectly fine.
Cheery I don't know if you are going to have a go at growing coriander again, but one tip that a gentleman off the allotments in Handsworth gave Monty Don was to slightly crush the seed before you plant it. It enables the 2 'hemispheres' of the seed to part and aids germination. No need to get out the pestle and mortar, you can literally do it between your palms. I do it and it works. I've also visited those allotments in Handsworth, and gosh, they grow coriander, methi and onions very well indeed, so I took their advice willingly - they know their stuff!
Hope all well with everyone and any news on Starnac?
Greying
Joining in the great coriander debate. In the US, the leaves are known as Cilantro and the ground roots as Coriander. It confuses the Yanks when we talk about Coriander leaves. :rotfl:
On a useless note, though KC will want to know, they found Coriander seeds in Tutankhamen's tomb.
Perhaps I should get out more! But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
