  • Sorry to hear people are feeling a bit bleurgh. It could well be the time of year.

This morning on the way to school it definitely had that autumnal chill in the air, my DD said 'it feels like winter' and I said no it wasn't that bad, winter would be a lot colder, so then she got quite excited and said 'Oh yes and then I can snuggle by the fire and have hot chocolate to warm me up!' I just loved that positive attitude, so then I suggested that we could toast marshmallows as well when the time comes! :D

I like autumn, I could never decide whether autumn or spring was my favourite season - or in fact summer or winter either because really I like them all! I like autumn for all the goodies to be found everywhere - have been munching on free walnuts the past couple of weeks, picked up 3 or 4 at a time on every trip to school. :j I never used to like walnuts because of their bitter flavour, but fresh ones are much nicer! Also my birthday is in autumn - maybe that automatically makes me an autumn person?

Anyway hope everyone has a lovely weekend ahead and gets out of the end-of-summer doldrums soon!

I always think SAD comes on about now too, I think everyone suffers to a very limited extent, it's only natural, a sort of winding down. I have a daylight bulb in my bedroom which helps, and my friend who suffers from SAD quite badly has a sunshine lamp which comes on slowly before she wakes up to give her a boost of 'daylight' in the morning. She also has a light box. These things are all pretty expensive (my daylight bulb was only about £20 though) but they seem to help a lot!

I guess that it is just nature that we wind down in winter. Might be nice to hibernate.

    :rotfl:To smiling teenagers :rotfl:

Both of mine are up (though strictly speaking DS1 at 21 is no longer a teenager!) and have just watch the second half of the England game (a bit of a whitewash)...now waiting for the N-Z match at 9:30.

Glad you had a nice walk under trees Pippi, it is a fun thing to do. :j

At least I have my boys well trained in putting their washing into the laundry bags in the bathroom...well mostly. :o There was a major washing fest last weekend as DS2 cleared out his bedroom, and I now have a large bag of rugby shirts/tops that are now too small for DS2 (DS1 too small for them and DH has chosen one or two). They are heading for the CS, but I either need to be able to park right in front of the shop, or take a son to carry it in...I can hardly lift it!!!

I have hung up two loads of washing this morning and have just had my porridge, so need to toddle off to have a shower. I plan on getting a bit more ironing done during the N_Z match, then I will head off to Malvern.

Looks like it is going to be a nice day, possibly even warm!! I will still take my fleece, an extra jumper, and the regulation waterproof anyway though. The stall I am "manning" - Perennial, will be in the Harvest Pavillion...so damp/muddy underfoot and quite chilly by the end of the day. I am on the stall from 3 to 6 pm, so plenty of time to wander beforehand. :D

Might see if there is anyone I know on the Pershore College stand, seems an age since I was a student there (7 years...how come it's that long!). Perhaps I get my gardening mojo back, though not sure when I can fit it in along with everything else I am trying to do!!! :)

Have a lovely day everyone, looks like the next week is due to be warmer again....a good tme to get the autumn tidy-up done methinks.
