Good morning. Just de-lurking to tell you that David Dimbleby wears stripy socks. We were watching a DVD with him in it last night and OH was most confused when I exclaimed about it. :rotfl::rotfl:

I think you write as well as and better than some of the columnists. Go for it - add another patch to the quilt that is your life. :T
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Oooh, how exciting to be in Country Living! :T :T :T I was reading mine in the bath last night and thought of you :D Which reminds me, I didn't get to the end - that's something to look forward to later! :T :T

KC's right - bet there's loads of places. And as for your local paper - there's been folk in it before writing about living on an island, I've read them! :D What is it that you've got that's different?? The plant growing, perhaps? The frugal living? The storecupboards? The all round cheery adventurising-ness of it all??? Will have a think :j :j

Oooh, and when you get a chance send me a stripey shopping list - we're not getting to you til Tuesday, but we're actually leaving home on Saturday, and it's Mr Daffs' birthday on Friday, so I'm running out of days! :D

Off out for spade-and-string wielding adventures in the garden :j :j

Why not write about the puffin adventure that you had for a travel magazine? You have lovely photos too which will always up the ante for acceptance.Plus you already have that written (no reason why you cant use your blog stuff). Do you know any editors who could look it over before you send it off who could give you some tips as to how the layout should be etc?

Just found this blog and she writes for County and Home in America. http://www.katyelliott.com/blog/2011/08/elfreths-alley-in-philadelphia.html/dsc_7872

Morning KC, grabs a pancake as it flies over to KC :) - sorry KC couldnt wait for the next one.
    Earl Grey anybody.

Hey Pippi, with regards the writing I agree their are probably lots of opportunities, how about freelancing? Why not write an article and send it off to several places and see what happens. I think lots of people would love to read your articles - after all look how many followers you have on your blog now. Oh by the way I mentioned you in mine yesterday, hope you dont mind.
Whistler - wow lucky man. Maybe when I get up and running in Austria you could all come over to do mountain biking there. The mountain biking world championships are being held just down the road from me in 2012 over there.

DARN IT KC BEAT ME TO IT - CHUCK ANOTHER ONE

    We'll be there :)

And lots of great ideas cheri - I'll have a think, hadn't really considered the photo/article thing - my photography is random at best!

But maybe, if it helps to get a toe in

Cheery - you're right - and the local magazine (we do have one) often have articles in, the gardening/plant things are already covered by other folk - but I might have an idea or two

I've been thinking of really upping the local food thing having looked at the 'fife diet' I'm thinking of going for one here

And, trying to research/get together all the local food stuff for up here - I've done a fair bit of it it already - put that together with foraging and frugal living/home made stuff - it *might* be interesting for tourists and local folk?

    I do like to eat

Triciaxx - I love folk wearing stripey socks, mark of a good person in my opinion :)

I spotted someone terriblly clever the other day wearing them too - and thought, well they're clearly dead right

    :)

Lots to muse on today, got to go into work for a bit (watering) and do a bit of printing if I can find my office key

Wonder, when I'm actually booted out of my office (which is immenent) if I can keep my key?

Nobody ever asked for my key back pippi :D

Orkney diet sounds fab! :T :T Remember to include fudge :p

    You're so inventive! :T :T :T

(and my boss, who is a very high up professor type, regularly wears stripey socks to work, so you're in good company! :T :T)
  • Lu thank you

Cheery, re key, I hope not!!!!

    Ok excellent tea here

Coconut Thai curry (left over sauce from last night tea which when tidying mr S had popped in the fridge. Most excellent discovery! Curry was cauliflower, which I love curried, crisp and yummy.

Had an abhorration - was prepping cauli put leaves into slow cooker for hens, but then thought, um, why am I dumping edible stuff? Cauli leaves are edible, we are conditioned that we only eat the centre bit.

So in true experiment/frugal style ripped them into curry, yum!

    Result.

I need to cook more I think, I use to cook a lot, mainly out of lack of resources/opportunities/poverty!

Cheery you're really kind too, off o catch up

Ps greying, saw the bouquet today on a magazine front, you're completely right! Lovely too

    Hi
I am going to suscribe to your diary - just skipped through it so far but it looks 'easy on the eye' ie straight forward and down to earth and not full of hand wringing and angst - one day when I am brave enough I will start one of my own - that will be soon - but in the meantime I will cyberstalk and I hope you dont mind me dropping in now and then :)

BTW my local Freegle ( Freecycle) wont allow the re homing of animals. Hope he gets a home soon :)

Hands should always be busy, far more interesting than wringing. Hello, glad you've popped in. Be brave, only thing you can lose are debts and gain a whole lot of chums xxx

Our local freegle had a poll on animals and locally it was considered ok, but we are a small community :) where 'roughly' are you?

Heck! Financial is only worth what it returns and that is difficult to measure. All I can suggest is to test your own sense of joyfulness, rightness, - - - don't bother to analyse it, follow your instincts.

What a lovely reply, thank you x

Me, I'm learning, belatedly, that this is what matters. Enjoy life, follow your dreams.
