I appreciate that people in built up areas and towns/cities can find it difficult to find a path/walk on grass/mud/non-paving, in which case you will have no option but to pick it up and take it with you. I would be not a lot to ask though that dog owners don't allow their dogs to do business on someone's drive. Just pull on the lead. Easy
I'm assuming you mean because its easier to pick up on grass/mud and not so you can just leave it there...?
I don't actually mind a dog using my drive as a toilet IF the owners bag it and bin it!0 -
Well, if a dog is walked in the country and poops in the forest/field etc, then no, I don't pick it up. If the dog was to poop anywhere else I would pick it up.Call me what you like, I was a bit "tiddly" when I chose my username

personally, I'd pick it up regardless, another one of my bugbears is the local playing field that doubles as a dog loo.0 -
Round our way, it appears that the dog owners do pick up after their pets and put it in a bag, but then hang the bag from a tree.
At the end of the walk, they then retrieve their bag and take it home with them.
I guess it saves them carrying the poo around with them during the walk.
Sort of responsible I guess.
The biggest problem is out of control dogs - every week in our local free paper there is a report of someone out for a walk being bitten/attacked by a dog, worrying sheep or chasing ducks and swans on the local lake.
(edit: thats the dog worrying sheep/chasing ducks, not the person out for a walk).0 -

A playing field is not a countryside walking area though. I wouldn't dream of not picking up the poop if I went to such a place. I'm talking about forests, woods, bridlepaths and suchlike. I'm not even going to apologise for not picking up poop in a forest. The dogs don't do their business on a path.Call me what you like, I was a bit "tiddly" when I chose my username

Oh no, thats sensible in woods as its not on a pathway, but I'd still pick up in fields and bridle paths because they are still areas where people will tread.0 -

A box of 200 poop bag are only 99p from the 99p store
 You pay that much?!!!! Have you not heard of using nappy sacks - I get bags of 300 nappy sacks for around 68p, sold in most of the large supermarkets!
Here's to saving money! :T0 -
My parents have a long driveway and at the bottom of it they kept finding very large dog turds (definitely not from their terriers!) it kept going on, clearly the same dog was using it as a regular toilet on its daily walks and the owner was not picking it up. One day my mum chanced upon the guilty dog owner and followed him home to find out where he lived (just down the road). She promptly went back and gathered up the dog turds into bags and threw them over his hedge into his garden
He did not let the doog poo on the driveway after that- although it wouldn't surprise me if another of our neighbours ended up with the problem.
This is vaguely related- not to do with dog dumps but ridiculous dog owners, but not so long ago my mum was in the garden with the family dogs. They have chickens and ducks wandering around loose on their property (a couple of acres) and a woman was walking along the road with a dog without a lead. The dog was a young, playful pup and saw the ducks in the distance and promptly came rushing down the driveway. The owner made no attempt to get it under control and it started chasing the ducks about the yard which sent our own family dogs mental and they charged at this pup- not biting but barking ferociously. The woman then had the cheek to shout down to us 'get your dogs under control!' Well, what can I say my mum was absolutely livid and she has a loud voice at the best of times, not to mention a foul mouth when she is angry. Having strange dogs running around the garden is no laughing matter as we have had chickens and ducks killed by them (probably more than have been taken by foxes- and at least foxes take them and don't just leave them scattered on the lawn!) While I am on the subject there is also a known dog in my parent's village who has it in for rabbits and guinnea pigs and has killed several much loved family pets by breaking into the hutches. The owner denies that it is her dog but my parents caught it red handed (nosed?) in the dead of night when it was trying to bash a hole into our old wendy house where our rabbit lived. There have also been plenty of sheep killings in the area thanks to dogs allowed to run amok.
I absolutely love dogs and do not blame the dogs at all for their behaviour, it is entirely down to the owners and their disregard for other people's property/ pets.0 -

When we lived in a tower block on the Samuda estate, the only place to let the dog go toilet was on the landings and in the lift (when it was working).0 -
