Dog Owners

Hello. Responsible dog owner here. Always pick up after him, and if we can't find a bin we take it home with us. It all then gets tied into a large supermarket bag and put in the general rubbish.
One morning we found a pile of poo bags on our drive that the dustmen had dug out of our black sack. They had actually opened the black sack, taken out the supermarket bag, untied it, and taken out the poo bags by hand and left them on the drive.
We asked our council why this was. They said their contractors weren't contracted to take dog waste. We asked what we could do with it if there was no bin on our walk. They couldn't answer that, but did say the contractor's contract was about to expire so they were probably just being awkward.
Also, non-picker uppers - please pick up after you. I have a slightly mental old lady around the corner who keeps telling me off for leaving dog mess around, and advising me that "they are watching" while I politely smile and point to the small smelly bag that I have in my hand.

You can catch toxocariasis from cat faeces as well and they get buried in your garden, so you don't know they are there till you do some weeding or play in the garden.
As toxo is caused by worms it's actually more likely to get them from cats as they are much harder to worm than dogs.
And you can catch tuberculosis from horse eggs that have been lying in the soil for 80 years. Imagine the risk to public health from all the road apples left on the pavement when the fox hunt comes turding through the town.0 -

But I would say that 90% of cats are unwormed cos it's so difficult to get a tablet down their throats without having to go to A&E.
There are loads of cats that crap in gardens of people everywhere and having gravel isn't a deterrent, they love that.
And if you've got an outside sandpit for the kids, welcome to being the neighbourhood kitty toilet.
So the likelihood of being infected by a cat is probably much higher than from a dog.
I too hate dog dirt and I pick up after my dog but I do get fed up of the "blame the dog" for everything.0 -

But that would involve a modicum of common sense and a little responsibility.0 -
Even better most councils give them away for free.
Yes that maybe true, but given that my council is 4 miles from my home it would cost more than 99p to get there I also like the ones in the 99p store as they are scented.0 -
It's not environmentally friendly to put dog whoops in plastic bags.
Better to leave the turds exposed to the elements and let nature degrade them gracefully.0 -

I'm interested how they would manage that?
In fairness, I generally pick up after the pooch. But I do wonder sometimes how exactly they'd find me to fine me if you see what I mean.
Is there some lab somewhere DNA matching the poo to the pooch? :rotfl:0 -
Ikea's poo bags used to be great, large and rather thick, but they stopped doing them, the swines!!“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
