  • Hmm well done for finding that lot out! I would not have known where to begin...!! Looks very dodgy!

I just called my bank (HSBC) who were remarkably helpful (for once), and are refunding me the amount under the visa debit chargeback scheme. I have also asked them to cancel my card just in case...so hopefully I will get my money back. It's only £40 odd but still, I have a wedding to pay for!!

Thanks so much for your help though :T brilliant detective work!

Care to share the potential troubles I could be facing? At least then I can alert my bank....

Here's a few to "get your teeth into"
Have a read up, you could be facing more withdrawls from your card (good move cancelling it).

Just so the above post makes sense, apparently we shouldn't post openly available WhoIs information about domains.

The post that contained said information was for some reason deleted without any PM to me or anything to explain?

It means they have seen this thread and reported it to abuse.

Happens often. shows they are on the ropes and essentially confirms the scam.

    Hi,

And yes, anybody can report a post.

Even so, the Forum Rules do not allow the posting of Personal Details - even those available on public domains. See below...

forum_faqs_small_bubble.gifI posted a company director's name and address but it's gone, why?

Forum users should not post their or anyone else's personal details (full names, email addresses, home addresses or telephone numbers) on the forum or send them via PM (private message). This includes personal details found on public look-up sites such as Whois.com and Companies House.

Posters should also not harvest, collect or use information about others, including e-mail addresses.

to clarify in that case, does that mean we cannot provide instructions on how to find it out for people asking?

Seems a little odd, but I'll respect the rules...
  • Shame part of the post was deleted, but I have made a note of said persons name and the other dodgy looking online stores....so is there any official body this person can be reported to??

Doesn't appear to be like those other teeth whitening scams as was not a trial, but you never know!!

Thanks again, and well done HSBC (hopefully!).

You are OK to point to the whois website as a resource - you just can't post the results of a search.
