Morning All, was in bed at 8:30 last night. OH's event on saturday was hectic then we hear this morning there was a complaint about me! Now considering the complaint was I was rude and aggressive I know its complete tosh! Its not in my nature. One of the guests appeared not to be moving so I sought help to make sure he was ok, turned out he'd had WAY too much to drink but I couldn't take the chance could I? So I sought help from the venue staff. The only thing I can think it was was that there was a very drunk bloke trying it on iyswim. Now I politely said I wasn't interested and pushed his hand away and told him my OH was there. Now if its him then I'm not happy. Why is it really nasty people seem to get away with things yet nice people get accused of stuff and mud sticks? I feel like crying I really do as I hate confrontation or aggression so to get accused of it sickens me. I feel like crawling into my bed (can't as I need to work).CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Ok retail therapy at lunchtime and £25 later (:()..... I feel better... honestly I do.
I could kick myself for spending so much money but did buy stuff to start sorting out my craft room (it REALLY needs it, I'm just piling stuff on top of stuff), carpet shampoo (why didn't I listen to my parents when I bought my house and get beige carpets..... no I wanted pale cream didn't I?
), 4 tins of beef pate (19p a tin!), cleaning cloths, a muslin square (my skin is playing up big style and ended up with a blister from my bra straps and my eczema flairing up) and some stuff for OH's packed lunch (can't be totally sure but think SS has been munching into OH's packed lunch crisps).
I'd read on another thread (not sure which one think it might have been sneaky ways to save the pennies) was to check if you already have something before buying another. Now I was going to buy a coin purse as I was thinking about keeping my shopping money separate from the rest of my cash. ..........Is this a good idea? Now I 'think' I have a purse left over from when I was a child (I always looked after stuff) so thought it would be fun to use that. Does anyone else have separate purses?
I'm trying to keep myself motivated but it has been a bad few days. My friend that has been good moral support emailed me today, they are going to be off the radar for a few days as they are extremely busy with family stuff so I'll be bugging you lot a bit more.... hope that's ok?
Wednesday is my last Egg/BC payment (if I have one after that it will be interest and will be pennies so can get rid of that one easily). I can't believe that's it gone. Will need to get my signature organised and put my next goal on there. It took my 4 months to get rid of Egg/BC and it's happened 2 months earlier than originally planned which I'm pleased about. Unfortunately I don't think my next goal will be cleared so quickly!
So since I'm tackling a new goal to clear does anyone have any good ideas for even making a few pounds? I have seen the bingo sites but not tried them. So far I do:-
Vivatic (although not got anywhere with it since they changed the payout)
Quidco
yougov
onepoll (still trying to reach the £40 payout)
my second job (pay is very variable)
craft stuff (again very few and far between)
the odd clear out of clothes to the rag and bone man
any other suggestions?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

Utter tosh. I don't even know you, and still can't see it happening.
If you can be bothered (ie if there's some consequence to you or the OH of the complaint), then can I suggest you ask for proper detail of the 'event' and for confirmation that the complainant actually knows who you are (you'd be amazed how many times I've had to deal with complaints about my staff, only to discover that it's a case of mistaken identity!). And then you have a chance to set the story straight.
If there's no consequence, then 'tra-le-la' it - after all, you're far to wonderful, and generally fab to worry about such little and inconsequential things....;)unixgirluk wrote: »Ok retail therapy at lunchtime and £25 later (:()..... I feel better... honestly I do.[
Back up a minute - your idea of retail therapy is to spend money on things you will actually use, and will quite literally make your life, or OH's, better in some way or another.
Sweetie, I think we may have to graduate you from the general MSE stage, to MSE graduate with honours! That's a fantastic approach - you should really pat yourself on the back *waits patiently*
Being good with money is largely about using it in a meaningful way rather than wasting it on randoms. Ok, that's £25, but seems to me that you've just spent it now in one go, rather than over the month. Nothing wrong with that. Plus sorting the craft room will likely save you money as you'll be able to find stuff. Tbh, I'm a teeny bit jealous of your will power and restraint.I'd read on another thread (not sure which one think it might have been sneaky ways to save the pennies) was to check if you already have something before buying another. Fab idea - the friends I have that are good with money all do something similar. Been thinking of doing that myself. Was going to make the little coin purse that came with 'Mollie Makes' a while back (which was a fab idea until I realised it's packed in a box in storage! :rotfl:).I'm trying to keep myself motivated but it has been a bad few days. :grouphug: (you know, I'm not entirely sure the one in the middle IS enjoying that!!). Seems to me that you're doing just fine, honey - look at how well you've coped with the bad days. And of course it's ok to be around here more - you know we love company! *pops the kettle on* pull up a chair. Cuppa while we're chatting?Wednesday is my last Egg/BC payment:T:T:j:T:TYAY!!:T:T:j:T
That's just so brilliant! Remember to keep hold of the final statement which shows you've paid it off...create an ego file for yourself where you can see at a glance just how in control you are. And 2 months early is bloomin' amazing - I wouldn't be at all suprised if you do just as well on your next target. Do you know what it'll be yet?So since I'm tackling a new goal to clear does anyone have any good ideas for even making a few pounds?
What sort of crafts do you do?

Nora I hate confrontation and anger I depise.... for heavens sake I threw up after flying off the handle at SS and that was some provocation believe me!
I did ask and she got all 'hoitee toitee (sp?)' on me so I am thinking out of the box here that either she's had her backside kicked for getting drunk from her boss when she should have been making sure we're ok or the drunken letch with octopus hands is her boyfriend....... either way she's gone WAY down in my estimation.Knitting_Nora wrote: »Back up a minute - your idea of retail therapy is to spend money on things you will actually use, and will quite literally make your life, or OH's, better in some way or another.

I'm more annoyed as the door hooks i bought don't fit over the doors and did I really need more white cloths when I could have used an old t-shirt? ..........yeah ok, I admit defeat yes I will make good use of the stuff and have just tested the carpet shampoo and blimey it removes blue lynx shower gel stains out of a cream carpet!Knitting_Nora wrote: »Plus sorting the craft room will likely save you money as you'll be able to find stuff. The craft room looks like a bomb has gone off in a paper factory. I spent 20 minutes in there tonight and it doesn't look like I've made a dent. One of the box files I bought is now full but will keep plodding on, think tomorrow night I might take a rubbish bag and spend 20 minutes binning what i don't want.Knitting_Nora wrote: »Fab idea - the friends I have that are good with money all do something similar. Uni makes a mental note to look out the purse from where she 'thinks' it is....

Yep, I have 2. The first one is the remainder of my tax bill which I put on my credit card (around £164) and a cc....... which needs a suitable evil but silly nickname which is just under 9k. I'm going to put both on my sig keep me motivated.Knitting_Nora wrote: »What sort of crafts do you do?

I make cards, hampers (nappy cakes, nappy motorbikes, towel cakes, clothes cakes, giant cupcake themed hampers and all special occassions), jewellery making, and anything else that makes use out of something that would ordinarily go to waste (I'm trying to work out what I can use to make a large box photo frame about 2 inches deep). Are you into crafts Nora?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Ok - come on everyone, mini-comp here - name Uni's cc...must be 'suitably evil but silly' *wanders off to find thinking cap*I make cards, hampers (nappy cakes, nappy motorbikes, towel cakes, clothes cakes, giant cupcake themed hampers and all special occassions), jewellery making, and anything else that makes use out of something that would ordinarily go to waste (I'm trying to work out what I can use to make a large box photo frame about 2 inches deep). Good grief - you do loads! Well, some of those you'd be able to sell via folksy (uk craft site), but they're a little picky so check out the 'what you can sell' page carefully. The other thing to consider is having a stall at local markets etc. as the various hampers sound like they'd create a really fun looking stall. If you have access to a printer, you could even run off a few flyers outlining the various types you do. For finding stalls, I always liked this site, though others may have other recommendations: http://www.stallfinder.com/
Yep, into crafts - I knit (main obsession at the mo), but my first love is glass painting. At a stretch I'll do cross-stitch and make cards, but it's rarely a pretty sight or good result! :rotfl:0 -
ooh a mini comp......... :j
can anyone help me with a silly name for my cc?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

Hmmm, I'm in a Disney villain mood this morning. How about Maleficent? Ooo, or Sir Hiss....or what about Percival C McLeach (guess who has wiki open...)....oh, and Toadward from Gummi Bears.... *practices her Toadwart voice* "yes, your dukiness".
