Wasn't there a story some years ago where a car left at Halfrauds was seen by the owners friend doing doughnuts and handbrake turns on the carpark?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Too late now, but when my car was smashed up by someone, my insurance company arranged for it's removal to a garage on their approved list, and they gave me a rental car for 12 weeks while it was sorted out. IMO Halfords should not have touched your car after their man had smashed it up, it should have been down to the insurance companies of both parties to sort it out. Halfords is trying to avoid bad publicity, keep on at them till you get what you want.

Taking it somewhere else for another MOT will not necessarily confirm whether or not the repair work done to the car is upto standard. It will only tell you if the car passes that MOT.
Taking it for an independent inspection of the actual repair work will.0 -

Its two different things though, firstly an independent should check the repair work. Secondly an independent MOT will check to make sure they agree with Halfords MOT and to make sure Halfords aren't covering up somethingEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

It's a difficult one. If a garage smashed my car when it was under their care for an MOT (or service) then there is no way in hell that MY insurance company would be involved in the proceedings. Unless the garage gave me compensation to cover the increases on my insurance premiums (i.e. a minimum of 3 renewals)
It shouldn't effect your insurance your insurance company will deal with theirs to get it sorted, i.e their insurance company would be paying out not yours. The only reason your premiums would increase next year is if the garage had no insurance and your insurer then paid out to get the car repaired.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Yes I agree and can see your point, I thought you meant just take it for another MOT and not independent check too.0 -

but it will affect your insurance, the simple fact your car has been involved in an accident will increase your premiumsBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

Why will it? You haven't had an accident and no claim has been made on your policy so your premiums will not increase. The fact that someone else has had an accident in that car and has claimed on THEIR insurance has absolutely no effect on your policy whatsoever.
Under your way of looking at it, any person who bought a car that had at any point in its entire history been involved in a claim, even for something like a cracked mirror, would mean the buyer ends up with increased premiums which is quite frankly ludicrous.
Its not what was involved in the accident but WHOM.0 -
right we have the car back, but its gonna have to go back. the wing has not been put on properly. have got the advisory. it says
"nearside front anti roll bar drop link has play"
has any one got any idea what on earth that means.
Thanks for all the advise, we are gonna get it independently checked and are contacting head office to clarify that they are aware and raise our concerns with them.
We waited the 5 days because it was still the first appointment we could get locally
It means the drop link bush is a bit worn but not bad enough to fail. I would get it done at some point though because it'll start knocking when you go over bumps and drive you mad.
And yes, it needs to go back to the bodyshop to get the wing done.0
