I was really lucky, I found out about mse in April 2009 and joined and somehow or other was on the coupon thread the first day.
In those days you could use loads of coupons, even if you hadn't bought the product at Tesco. You could only use one of each coupon though (unless you actually bought the product) per shop.
Thats the first time I heard a shop assistant called an "old trout", they were out in abundance then too and they hated it when we went to the till with 50 coupons totalling maybe £50 and getting most, if not all, of our shopping for free.
During that 5-6 months I got over £3000 of shopping completely free, but I followed the coupon policy correctly.
It was really good fun, but not without occasional problems from difficult SA's who didn't know the Tesco coupon policy.
Then we got Black Friday, in the October, no warning, the coupon policy that we knew and loved ended.
So now we make the most of coupons how and when we can.
But I wish we could bring back " the good old days"
So well done to all the newbies, your stash will soon build up, until you need more shed space, more cupboard space, you will be storing things in every room, the loft, garage, anywhere even relatives houses.
But you will save a fortune doing it, and hopefully have some fun and make lots of new friends too.
Take care everyone.

I was thinking about this today, and really wishing i did.... i get so angry with myself for spending so much money on things i could've gotten for free/cheaper, the fact that i'm reducing my bills dramatically makes me feel so much better about my situation, and feeling very desperate doing my wombling, but as some people have said have found myself staring at the self service checkout bin things willing myself to take some receipts... still haven't0 -

Thanks CouponWoman I will try and do it now , I bet I will mess it up totally !!! Gosh just read your post about how much in 2009 that you saved that is amazing !! I have just had to put another box in spare bedroom for the bits and pieces that I got today, but mainly not from coupons, just cheaper items. Saying that I did get 4 Colegates, 2 for £2 and then 50p coupons off each lol so 50p a tube !!!
I know this might be out of context , but Domestic Sink and Drain cleaner is down to 50p in Tescos from £4 something, and I got 10 bottles !!, and in Asda, Tena lady panty liners are down to £1 from £1.99 so I got 10 boxes of those aswell lol lol I like my bargains !!!0 -

I sometimes think the same Julie ,but at the end of the day, we didnt know about it , and no good getting upset by something we cant change. Is it ?
I know about reducing bills and money being tighter, both my hubby and I had to give up really good jobs 3 years ago, he has Alzheimers Dementia , and I had to become his carer. It has been a very difficult few years. Can you imagine living on benefits in this day and age ?0 -
