You are using the money for their best interests - go for it.
Guilt? I don`t think so!0 -
I would have no problem anyone using money I give to the child (and actually therefore the family) to pay of debt. It's absolutely none of my business what they do with it. If it sits in a bank account until the child turns 18, that child would probably then spend the money on beer or cigarettes or some other 'college' pastime, so I'm quite happy for the money to be used so that the parents can get out of debt and afford for the child to even go to college in the first place.
I didn't have a bank account when I was a child, and neither did I have any pocket money. Parents couldn't afford it. But we did have love and everything we NEEDED.Forever I will sail towards the horizon with you0 -

My son used his to buy a car and pay for his insurance.
If he did spend it on booze and fags then that is up to him.
IT WAS HIS MONEY - GIVEN TO HIM.0
