    Hi everybody,

Not sure when I posted last, its been a bit manic here lately!

DD3 arrived safely Oz, some photos on my Facebook page, she started work yesterday and got on fine....bit of settling in to new job etc necessary. They are very pleased with house they are sharing at company's expense for first month, starting to look for somewhere of their own now.

Think I said that Thunder had taken off last week....he came back to-night, not looking any the worse for his trip to wherever, was glad to get his milk and food and is settling down to sleep, still no sign of Sile. Neither of them liked Mossy so am sure that is why we had the problem, he has never been used to cats so was chasing them in spite of remonstrations.

DD2 and DGDs 1&3 arrived on Saturday for a week, they have gone to stay with a college friend of hers to-night but will be back early to-morrow as OH has to go to Warfarin clinic. Its lovely to see them, the girls are growing very quickly, poor little 3 year old was sick twice last night so clothes lines are all taken up with bedclothes and towels....she seems to be fine to-day.

Spent €175 on car this morning....brake pad problem....DS3 reckons that I should change it now as their is a scrappage scheme here at present but it runs out at end of June....don't have the money to pay outright for car, would cost €50 a week for 5 years in credit union, more in bank....hate borrowing money, only thing with CU is that you can pay more than your agreement any time and that brings down the interest....will mull it over for another couple of days. DS is saying that I should go with KIA as they have 7 year warranty at present, I rather like Hyundai as I drove one in Oz and it was fine, but have had Renaults for the past 36 years and feel strange thinking about anything else......I used to be indecisive, now I just can't make up my mind!!

Dinner today was belly pork that I slow roasted over fennel and onion, had green beans as well with baked spuds and then some rhubarb and apple crumble with ice-cream....naughty but nice.

Am proud to report that I have a pea sized tomato on one of my plants, more to plant out into soil, very pleased with myself, we had home grown bok choi yesterday and there will be lots more over the next few weeks, peas and beans are coming on well, although OH has some problem with sowing enough of these, they freeze beautifully so not sure what is wrong with him. Had 4 small strawberries this morning and the currants will all be ripe soon, so looking forward to a good harvest, just hoping that all the wind we have had will not have wrecked the apple trees.

Hugs to all who have problems of any kind, my mind is not working well at present

Hello everyone, I don't post hear often so hope you don't mind me jumping in, just trying to kill some time and relax a bit, as i'm really stressing out about an appointment I have this afternoon.
I have to do to an orthodontic department to see if I am able to get braces or not, I have been on the nhs waiting list for months and months, and now my appointment is here and I'm terrified. I originaly was planning private orthodontic treatment, by after a consultation with the Ortho, she said my case was too complex and I'd need to be referred to the hospital for treatment.
I just really hope they can help, I know it may sound silly to some of you but my crooked teeth affect every aspect of my life, I have low confidence, and depression and I believe This is 99% due to the crookedness of my teeth.
So please, please keep your fingers crossed for me kind people that I can get the braces and start my journey to being happy with the way I look.
Right now I feel so sick and anxious, I'm terrified of dentists anyway and this will be in a scary hospital situation too. Eeeeeek :-(. Xx

I hope you don't mind...but I would be really interested to find out if you get your braces? I have just been turned down for NHS braces, even though the angle of my teeth are causing me to suffer awful mouth ulcers. I was told that braces for cosmetic purposes? Let me know how you get on?

hi there, I'm sorry to hear you weren't accepted. I have been taken on as an nhs case now, yes.
I think the nhs have very strict guidelines to follow before allowing adults free nhs treatment, to be honest I'm quite shocked that I've been accepted. She said they were a case 3 ( 1 being the perfect teeth and 5 being the most crooked) and I was sure I read somewhere that only case fives and sometime fours could be treated on nhs for adults.
However, although my teeth don't look 100% terrible, I have a complex case that my private ortho wasn't willing to treat - got a couple of short roots.
Also there's a possibility that I may need jaw surgery to perfect my bite, though for now I've decided on just the braces.
I too get a lot of mouth ulcers and sores, and hadn't thought that it may be connected to my teeth. It'd make sense, since the way they constantly press into the inner lip at an angle. I also suffer severe jaw ache on one side due to my wonky bite, yet none of this was mentioned prior to me being accepted.
The only downside for me Is that I accepted a place at a hospital which Is a 4hour round trip for me to make, if I had wanted to go to Worcester hospital which is only ab hour trip, i'd've been on the waiting list for another 18 or so months.
I'm so sorry you got refused treatment :-(
Was it your regular dentist you asked about being referred? I booked myself into a private ortho and it was only after having xrays the complexity of my case was revealed.
