Please don't regret trying to help. I am sorry if my comments made you feel that way. These subjects are so emotive and everyone just wants to do something to help. Your intentions are completely pure and understandable. Sometimes it takes "an outsider" to give some input that may help the cause. Please though, no regrets. Its horrible what happened to those kids :(

so do u think we should hide and pretend things dont happen? its a way to try if you havent got that try in you you would give up as sad as it is in this life u dont get anywhere being sush sush

Of course I don't think we should ignore it when bad things happen or when bad people do bad things but the only way to get anything changed is to focus our energies on things which might achieve some concrete results. An online petition achieves little except for providing an outlet for a bit of righteous indignation. Which is OK as far as it goes but isn't likely to do anything else.

I'd comment on the rest of your quoted post up there if only I could understand it....

I have not heard of the organisation C.H.R.I.S UK and have just spent 20 minutes looking through the information on the website, which is very shocking. Thanks for bringing it to my attention OP.

    Saw this on another thread

As you will I found it strange I could find no reporting of the case only entries on petition sites.

Don't get upset about the whiners on here Onetomany....your heart is totally in the right place and thank you for bringing it to our attention. x x

If people want to sign it, they will - if they dont - fine. Others that just want to pull it apart, focus on punctuation and grammar and/or don't believe that the internet is a powerful medium :rotfl:, are not worth responding to...let them get on with it.

However, I can't help but think if the baby sitter was dumpy and ugly rather than an attractive young girl, the sentence would have been steeper.
LolZ. What a crock. Good job Peter Sutcliffe didn't look like Brad Pitt, eh?
If they were my children who had been harmed by them I would be using my energy on finding a way to mete out a different, more appropriate form of justice

Fair enough, but what change does she want because the petition doesn't identify any change.
Why not ring the Daily Mail, they may be interested in reporting the case and how the mum feels. It would be far more powerful way of bringing it to the UK public's attention than an unclear petition on the internet - of which there are millions.

The "whiners" are trying to advise how to make sure such a story gets more exposure..goes to the right people etc..

"Those not worth responding to" are trying to help the story get into the right peoples hand in the best possible way.

Its a good job not everyone has the attitude of just taking 2 seconds to stick their virtual signature on a website so they can feel all fluffy and superior because they "did their bit"

    Thats the easy part!

As someone else has already said, where are the "signatures" going?! Do you even care? Or have you done your bit? So job done?

No one is disputing what happened is awful, what people are trying to do is help on getting the information to the right people and I am betting the "right" people will want more then a text rant! Sorry if that makes me a heartless person for pointing that out! Getting results takes HARD work!
