Can't help with your parking as we were coming in from the east.

We went into the first car park we saw (a large area of flattened waste ground). There was a sign saying 'managed by NPC parking'. We were asked if we had prebooked & when we said we hadn't we were told to drive over to part of the car park & they would see if they could fit us it. How lucky we felt that they could fit us in for the bargain price of £20!

There was no sign outside with the price on. There were places closer which seemed cheaper.

Despite the above, it was about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the stadium & fairly easy to get out of so it worked for us.

As far as the bag checks when you get to the stadium, they were minimal. We were just asked to open the top of the bag. I had a few bottles of water on the top of a coat. They didn't look further/ feel the bag.

In my opinion you could have taken anything in as long as it was in your pocket/ bottom of the bag.

Drink prices were £17 for 2 pints & 2 glasses of wine.

    Nearly forgot, fantastic concert!

Someone posted this (below) on another thread and we used it the other night and it was just brilliant. 3 min walk and no cues to get out.

    Take that parking!
    Hello!
Anyone going to Take That at Manchester City Staidum
We are doing car parking at The Grange Commuity Centre in Beswick. Which is a 3min walk right to the stadium. We only charge £5.00 and most places are dearer!
We open at 3.30pm until an hour after the concert finishes.

I can confirm this. We parked here and it was a bargain and a true 2 minute walk to the entrance. Perfect!

I texted the above number and was given a password to reserve our spot. We were even invited to use the community centre toilet facilities if we wanted to.

    A gem of a find.

Wish I'd found this before I went! Ended up paying £10 but it was a very quiet carpark, quite isolated and about a 15 minute walk from the stadium. Because of that we were able to get out of the carpark with no issues. I knew a place a little closer and cheaper but I decided to just go with the men in hi-viz jackets. Suppose I'll learn for next time, but the concert made it worth it.

I'm not really a fan of standing gigs, I like my personal space too much and I'm a little too much of a boring person to enjoy being surrounded by lunatics, but it didn't matter that night. I was completely taken in my the atmosphere and ended up singing and dancing with everyone else - even when it rained! I had to be the most amazing gig I've ever been to (with the exception of the Roger Waters gig I went to a couple of weeks before). Everything was perfect, and I'm so happy I took the financial hit and went. I'll never forget it.

If I were to give any advice that hasn't been mentioned, I'd recommend you went to the toilet before you set off. Not before you get to outside the ground, before you set off (if you're coming long distance then it obviously doesn't really count). The queues were ridiculous. Personally I am a total snob about public toilets, and the thought of using one of the porta cabins after that many people made my skin crawl. There was no way I would risk losing my space or missing some of the gig just to go to the toilet, so I didn't bother.

If you're standing and you want to sit on the floor for a bit before the gig, be careful of people stepping on your hands and people who try to push their way through to the front or to their friends, beer/Pimms in hand. Me and my partner got a bit sick of people doing this every minute so we and a few others did our best to block off any pathways. I also got burnt by an idiot with a cigarette, so watch out for people who aren't considerate enough to watch out for you.

But like I said, once you're there and soaking up the atmosphere it almost doesn't matter. Even the rain couldn't dampen our spirits :)
