I had a quick look on ebay for 'popcorn boxes' and there are quite a few on there but it depends on your budget!
  • hey everyone
am looking for a little bit of help
I have two sisters 22 and 27. both big kids at heart. we have a 20 limit on buying stuff for christmas. This year i really hope they just dont hit the pound shop hard and give me 20 quids worth of bits and pieces. only so many shot glasses a girl needs.
I am planning on making fudge/ tablet and or truffles to go along with it, but i have no ideas what to get them.
Planning on baking and hitting charity shops hard for my mum and my partners mum n dad
life was a lot simpler when i was single and did not think about the future when spending. now every penny is a prisoner
    cheers

Could you not team up with each other so instead of one present from each you get one £40 present from both? That way you get one decent thing that you like rather than (potentially) 40 small pointless ones?

Mum2one - thank you so much for those tips!

They are fab. I think i have either started or changed most of those items either previously or following on from your email so thank you so much. Other half is going to clear my £1660 credit card bill and I'll pay him back interest free rather than swapping cards about.

Must quickly tell you about my Tesco Mobile bargain as well. Last year I was still with Vodafone but cancelled my line at the end of my contract. They phoned up offering the world - as they do - to keep me and it all just got on my nerves. Anyway, I had a blissful month without a mobile (had quit smoking as well so imagine this I went out in the morning and all i had to remember was my house keys and wallet!!) but work started to get tetchy as they couldn't contact me directly.

Upshot was I got a £6 sim from Tesco with 100 mins cross network and unlimited texts for a month until i decided upon a new phone contract etc. Well over a year later I am still with my £6 a month phone and have rarely had a bill higher than £6.50! Those of you wishing to cut back on needless mobile expense could do worse than going with Tesco. Also never had reception probs!!

Hope that you all have a lovely day. Put loads of stuff on ebay last night and I'm ashamed at the amount of money I have simply wasted buying up stuff. Designer shirts still in wrappers etc. Idiot!!!

Thank you, it sounds daft but I can come up with ideas for everyone else, but my financies...getting there.
Thats a mega deal with Tesco, don't know if u know they piggy back on 02 network, so most of the country is covered... bar my favourite part on the moors.. the positions get into to send a text!!

Thats brill about the ebay clear out, - sounds cheeky, but is there any new items that could be recycled to christmas presents pile,

I know its after the horse left the stable!! but its free listings for today and 2mor on ebay, in my opinion they have their plus and minus points

Plus - as a buyer your have a wider range to buy from therefore items you won't pay as much for as maybe normally you would. Also if the item starts off at more than 99p you can list for free.

Minus - With it being free listing, some people list everything but the kitchen sink, so ebay can be flooded.

What I find best is to time the auctions to end on Sunday afternoon, early evening, that way most people be at home, those that come in as last minute bidders, will be around rather than the listing ending at 2am. More likely to get a bidding war.

If I do a 10 day, list Thurs, finishes week on Sun
    7 day - finishes Wed.

Just remember if something doesn't sell, it won't necessary be because of the item isn't any good, just could be theres a lot of them.

Plzed hubby helping out re credit card, one pressure less.

Also keep an eye out for carboots if theres anything suitable as there be winding down over the next month and guessing be replaced by craft / christmas fayres. A lot of schools will have fayres and lease out tables, I did a jewellery and nick-nacks at our local school, 90% of my items were pocket money presents, £2.50 for a necklace, £1 for a keyring, I made over £100.
I always work on the basis one persons posion, another persons meat.

    Hi Kayandy

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pack-Popcorn-Boxes-Size-16cm/dp/B001K360PK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317506018&sr=8-1

pop-corn boxes on amazon, £3.50 inc postage, don't know if they would suitable.

In all honestly I would say that sounds perfect for the hamper, you've covered the basics, film, drink, (adults + children), popcorn, maybe sweets wise, go for both adults and children, and maybe some posher crisps for the adults. xx

Def agree about seeing if you can team up, with a £40 budget, you could get some fab presents, if either sister says no, may be worth trying to approach I saw, x,y, z (in budget) so nice, but you know what its like with house/hubby/bf/dog/children etc feel really quilty buying myself anything like that.

I don't work for Argos, but I'm addicted to their clearance section, if your on home page, scroll down, and its yellow and black writing, and you can check clearance in a particular store, - I picked up some bargains for DD birthday, including a gold creole earrings £28 reduced to £8, previously had a £100 gents gold bracelet for £40. Its def worth a peak.

Just had though re shot glass collection, sounds like your over flowing, - if you make flavoured vodkas, then decant into small wine bottles, or if anyone has minitures, (my dad has been under instruction all yr, when he opens his mini supply, got to keep the bottles).

Last Xmas - did flavoured vodkas, with a shot glass, bit cello wrap and ribbon, and added note incase of emergency please break seal. They went down a treat, as funny side, token gesture present, but as homemade, looks more than what they cost. xx
