bumpmakes4, i used gift bags last year as i didn't have baskets and they were probably better, a lot easier!! i picked my baskets up from cs and cb this year so now should have enough for what i need. and my ds space themed hamper is in an avon box, but have painted it blue, cut out some rocket shapes and when my next order comes will do some alien shapes just so it looks a bit more exciting. got my dad some hankies for his stocking this weekend, seem to be going so slow, my mum has just 2 things and my dad 3 really need to get cracking. i was going to do my auntie and uncle a wine bottle shaped door stop for their wine hamper but my mum seemed to think this was a stupid idea (i dont know why i bother telling her anything sometimes) just wondering if anyone thinks its a good idea? so far i have 2 wine glasses, a wine tasting game, got to get 2 bottles of small sparkling wine from home and bargains and a couple of little bottles from tesco and then im stuck, so i thought a door stop would bulk it up, was going to do a label with it along the lines of "you mya not be able to drink me but after a few glasses of the real thing i will hold the door open for you" i am no good at making things up!0

I did a wine hamper once for the playworkers at my kids after school club. In each corner of a square box I had a wine glass. Inbetween each wine glass was a mini bottle of wine, red, white, rose and sparkling. Around the stem of each glas was a wine charm and inside each glass was a mini photo frame. They loved it. :jAdditional things to put in are wine thermometer, wine cooler bag (you know the one that wraps round a bottle to chill it), book.0

Gift baskets are a great idea - I have a ton of nieces and nephews and I often do this for the birthdays as I can get little things as and when I see them - makes it cheaper and helps spread out the cost a bit. Plus they spend ages going through the box unwrapping loads of stuff (only little things).
I always phones up and asked what this niece wanted or what that nephew wanted and always got the same replies that weren't greatly helpful from parents who like me struggle to come up with ideas for prezzys.
My home made TOFFEE (should have been fudge but went a tiny tad wrong!!) went down really well in the bags last year - edible glitter is a great mix in festive touch.0 -

Hi folks,
Bumpmakes4 - you can sometimes drop on gift boxes for really good prices in small card shops and market stalls.
Thanks for the suggestions for my niece and her gymnastics. My Brother and SIL are in a position to spend a lot of money on their children which often leaves me feeling like the things that I buy for them are not to their standard (ie - designer). I've seen a water bottle with I Love Gymnastics on it and will get her bits as you've suggested.
My DD is 11 on Sunday and I'd already got her bits but, having found this thread, have decided to present them in a hamper style for her. I've found a little storage box in HB for £2.49 so will use that to put the things in - she can use it to keep things in - not that she's tidy and everything is generally strewn all over the room. I went to poundland today and found Madonna Couture perfume in there (yup, its £1)! Got her some of that!

You can't have too many grobags, the best things to stop midnight wakings from cold feet etc. If you stalk them on Ebay from now you can get some some lovely ones BN for much less than RRP.
Also cot mobiles that attach to the cot sides, you can ones that have stars etc or the b&w patterns that they are supposed to see better at this age. Some also play music. I had a great one from the NCT sale which was wind up so didn't even need batteries.
Also maybe handwrite/print a book of baby sitting vouchers if you are able to sit baby easily.Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in infamy!!0 -
On grabbit now they have
Fisher price precious planet cot mobile £6.50 rrp £24.95 http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-9792.aspx
They also have a couple of fab grobag/sleeping bag offers but not 0-6mths.Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in infamy!!0 -
