Just updated again, after buying bedmats, bread, a donut and tomatoes yesterday. (Donut was a treat for sick DD). I am going to be WAY over this month. I know that, but we are also using up a lot from freezer and cupboards. Last night, I made spaghetti with the last plain jar of tomato sauce, 2 portions of bacon lardons, handful each of sugar snaps, courgette and pepper, and a large portion of mushrooms - served the 3 adults with that and my lunch was leftover too.
Tonight, we are having chicken fajitas. DH is out on Fri night, and Au pair usually is too, so I will have something rubbish from cupboards for myself. And Saturday, we are having a curry feast night - our neighbour had to do a quality control check and needed someone else to ring for her, so we got the food as a reward!! (And as it was the chain she works for, that is GREAT curry and it happened to be our usual order too!!). The only thing we don't have is fresh naans, but I might get creative Sat afternoon.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

I feel bad as I know it's a good cause and I know I would want it for anyone I knew who was suffering from cancer but at the moment every penny really does need to be accounted for. Maybe I will phone tomorrow and cancel. I'm going to feel like a real rotten person doing it though. I do make a tiny donation to Macmillan every month and am doing my best to keep that going (it's only a couple of pounds a week) so maybe that can be considered as doing my bit. Thanks for the advice and for not making me feel too bad about it!!
I have had another nsd today. I used to resent these as I'm a bit of a compulsive shopper, but now I enjoy the challenge and feel like I have really achieved something. It's even the silly things like not buying my normal cup of coffee at the station - that was about £2 per day. Now I take my own in my travel mug....which reminds me I haven't washed it yet tonight!
if you are worried about phoning them to cancel, you can go into your bank and cancel from that end instead (or if you use online banking its even easier).DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

PennyGrabber wrote: »CherryPie - I had the same thing happen with the NSPCC. A woman rang me, asking for £12 a month, I said no, she said how about a lot less, like £8 (?!?), I said no, she asked me what I would be comfortable with, I said £2. She then said, and I quote "Ok, I'll accept that." WHAT?!! I told her how rude she'd been, and that I already give £15 a month to charities, but still ended up signing up. It's horrible how they make you feel.
GC note, today will be a nsd as I have the children and we're just going to come straight home from work - dd wants to watch tangled again, so need to be home in time for it to finish before 7 so they can get to bed on time!
Have a good day all,
PG x
i would also love to know how much the people signing you up are being paid by the charity.... dont get me wrong i am no scrooge, i do plenty of volunteering in the community and fundraising for local charities, but the people signing you up are basically sales people and can be quite rude and overly pushy. You have every right to say 'no thank you' and either close the door or put the phone down. it is not unreasonable.
i will add, i also work for a charity, but i would never dream of phoning or knocking on peoples doors asking for money... HTH.xxDFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

Been into Al@i today and spent £20.38, have drawn my weekley money out today so it will come out of this weeks £70 budget, came in under budget last week, and have stuff in freezer and cupboards. Got the meat deal at Mr s and half of each left, so will not need meat this week.
Have a beef goulash for tea tonight with 1/2 of the braising steak, and have put 1/2 a cooked chicken in the freezer and have 1/2 the 700g of mince left too. Not sure if the 2 ds`s will eat the goulash, but will try them.0 -

Small shop done today on the way home from work. Spent £13.94 less £5.00 nectar points so a spend of £8.94 to add to my total. Bought bread 2 lge and 1 sml white for DS, fruit, rusks, salad, ham and crisps. Will cover lunches today and Monday and a picnic we have planned for Saturday. Need to try and hide half the ham from DH;)
I am planning to make a victoria sandwich cake filled with buttercream and jam and choclate buns to cover the weekend/next weeks lunches.
Having checked the meal plan I do not seem to need anything until next Friday for meals. I feel a bit :eek: but I will need bread and fruit so it's not that great.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
