    the Police will either,

Issue a FPN for driving without Insurance (6 Points and £200+ Fine) And Increased Insurance Preimums for the next few years , if you are a "New" Driver (Passed your test Within the last 2 years , Lience is Revoked)

    Or

Issue a Summons to you , where you will probably have the option to plead guilty by post , Same Points (6) £200+ Fine , Victim Surcharge etc etc , Increased Insurance Costs for the next few years

as i said not interested in driving, I haven't had my own car since 2007,and my usage has got less & less each year, The only reason it was me going to TOILET ROLLS £350 plus my sanity because my hubby had been drinking & I dont drink TEA?COFFEE OR ALCOHOL but i have no intentions iof buying insuring or driving a vehicle in the fore see able future... When mid was introduced it sounded like a brilliant idea to stop uninsured drivers. NOW THATS A JOKE, I know of at least 2 people driving without insurance, never get caught, they will continue to get away with it same as not paying other bills.
The politics & society we live within mean its always the innocent that get caught.

    CRIMINALS KNOW HOW NOT TOO

i will let everyone know how I get on and if it truly is Swintons fault for not canceling my renewal as I requested

They seriously wouldn't let you get your bag? Even when they took it? Didn't it have keys and things in.

My bag always has medication in I need access to. I don't know what I'd do if they took my car, as I can only walk for a minute in pain, and I can't get my wheelchair out and set it up by myself. What a scary thing to happen.

Having possession of the policy certificate DOES not mean you have insurance, however if the Insurance company have neglected to tell you the have cancelled it you would be Not guilty of the offence of driving uninsured, as the contract is still in force and until told otherwise by the insurance company you are insured the two are very separate issues indeed.
The court will establish at what point the insurance was terminated and what measures the insurance company took to notify the accused of such cancelation.
Otherwise, they would all say ,,ooo sorry we cancelled it last week every time you made a claim.
It is a legal binding contract that they have agreed to underwrite your vehicle for the purposes of the road traffic act and they maintain to do so until they notify you otherwise. IN WRITING.
However, it has now become established that no insurance is in force, so you will need some to get the car back, in your name with that vehicle named on the certificate. A simple temporary policy from a brokers on a high street will issue a cover note, you can even buy 1 day insurance to get the car out.
The Smart move here, is if you find yourself in the smelly stuff is to get the mobile phone and credit card at the side of the road and buy some before the tow truck arrives, you are under no obligation to follow any instructions of the police officer to in relation to trying to obtain some and if you can, they can not seize the car once you give them the policy number, if you are smart enough to have a pen in the car that is to write down the policy number.
Then they could only issue a no insurance NIP.
You have to have some front as some of these coppers are real big shout nasty mouths.
You need to be very smart these days and know your rights, any one of us can fall for this at the roadside and by the grace of God go us, some of these insurance companies are the real crooks in disguise.

You don't need a NIP of document offences.

If you where genuinely insured and had every reason to believe so do not take what they are giving you, fight it every step of the way.

Contact the insurers first thing Tuesday morning and find out why cover had been cancelled make an official complaint in writing get answers refer the matter to the FOS if they do not play ball.

They have given you a hard time so fight back and do the same why should you lose out.

I asked for the officer to let me get my bag from car so I could get insured before it towed, he wouldn't let me have my bag and said the vehicle would still be towed regardless,
I Feel as he took one look at me and said here a fool, Ir would never had occured to me that every time you leave home you should check insurance still in place so you dont get screwed.. You also said new insurance had to be in my name. I dont want to drive & hubby is registered owner/keeper so he was setting up just in his name. will that be an issue.

Really well a trip to the station and a word with the duty inspector is a good start, let him sit down and fill in your compliant as to how why you were not allowed to recover your bag.

These inurance companies are starting to take the proverbial out of us, revenge tells me we should jam their free phone numbers daily to check our insurance is still valid, press the button to get a quote, they will soon get the message that we are annoyed at them cancelling insurance and not telling anyone until they get nicked.
    This is a disgrace
Name and shame Swinton is one whos the other muppets.
