Hi I get the error code when I try to copy vhs to dvd....

I have now got it working!!!!
I have got a lead with a red, white and yellow 'plug' on both ends. I put one end to the tv and the other end in the front of the dvd recorder and it works!!!

Maybe one of my scart leads isn't working properly......

Ok there are a couple of questions now...

Will I get a better picture/ recording if I connect with the red white yellow leads to our HD tv rather than the old Bush tv in the back room?

The dvd are for 120 mins that doesn't leave much space for extra time or the opening ceremony what do I do??

    TIA

    Dx

Are you recording from the Freeview box, the TV or the internal tuner of the Sharp?

    Must be the freeview box.....

I have just dropped DH and DS1 off at Wembley and I have about 45 mins to fiddle before DH is home again to watch the match on our tv. I think I will move the dvd recorder to the better tv as the signal would be less pixelie.

Recording quality will be the same whatever TV is connected to the recorder, but output quality will be better on the HD TV using component video..

    From p.15:
If your TV is compatible with 525 or 625 progressive scanning and you want to enjoy that high quality picture, you must connect the Component video cable to your TV’s component Video input jacks (Y/PR/PB) and select progressive scanning mode. To set the mode, set “Video Out” to “Component Progressive (P)” in the “Video” of the “Playback” menu so that “P.SCAN” will appear on the display of this unit. See pages 83-84 for more details.
Page 84 explains why the SCART lead didn't work. The video output mode of the recorder needs to be configured to use SCART (RGB) ouput..

    From page 84..
Sets the video output signal to be fixed accordingly to your TV set.

    SCART(RGB):

Select “SCART(RGB)” if your TV has a scart terminal and connected to it.

    Component Progressive (P):

If your TV is compatible with progressive scanning, select “Component Progressive (P)” and make sure the connection indicated by each jacks (Y / PB / PR) properly.

    Component Interlace (I):

If your TV that have component jacks, select “Component Interlace (I)” and make sure the connection indicated by each jacks (Y / CB / CR) properly.
Have you checked which TV channels are broadcasting the game? Different channels may be using different camera feeds from the stadium, so there's more chance of catching a glimpse of the lad! Brave kid! I wouldn't want to do it! Shouldn't ask, but which teams are playing?!

Thank you so much for your help. I decided to take it into the front room for a better picture and completely messed up. After 35 mins I couldnt get it right so bought it back, to where it was, and forgot how I set it up in the first place. I've now done it but I'm shaking!
    Phew.... just made it.
Lets hope I can get to see him now by the way its Manchester United v Barcelona

    Thanks again

Ha just seen him, as Barcelona scored their third goal. As the ball hit the netting I saw his face just above the advertising board! With any luck we should be able to get a great picture, from the dvd, to put on his facebook page.

He will be absolutely delighted, 3-1 to Barcelona , a dream come true!

    Have you got avidemux?

    http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/

If you load the part you want, click file, then click save, save selection as jpeg images, it could help you get the image you want

I have a Sharp DV-RW360H, same as you recently bought. Originally you could only get 1-2x speed R/W discs and I bought some Philips ones which have been fine, used as 'time shifter' discs. Recently tried some Verbatim x4 from PCWorld, they wouldn't work and PCWorld (to their credit) refunded my money.

The Philips 1-2x discs are still available, there are several suppliers on Amazon. But if you only want permanent recordings (e.g. transferring old tapes to disc, one of the reasons I bought this machine) then DVD-R discs are much cheaper, and I've used Memorex 16x discs with no problems at all.
