Ebay highest bidder comes from abroad

Just love it how certain posters will always try and make an idiot of someone on more or less every thread on here!
Look, I put UK ONLY, it clearly says that on the item page. Why do Ebay allow people from abroad to even bid on things which state that? It can't be hard to put that on the system.
The buyer, from Holland, won and paid for the item within seconds, meaning I can't change the postage costs. There is no way I am posting the item to Holland for the same money I put down as p&p in England, which for 1st class is generous as it is.
Think I will take my chances and just give a second chance offer as the fella hasn't replied since Thursday.
f he leaves negative feedback so be it, but surely Ebay will over ride that considering what has gone on here
If you did not block all foreign countries, I think YOU are making yourself look silly, buy blaming everybody (buyer, ebay, now posters!) for your blunder.
With a couple of clicks you can block any country you wish, but you think ebay should be reading every single one of their millions of listings to find out what country sellers want to post to.
If you couldn't be bothered to find out how to sell to the UK only, it's nobody else's fault...0 -
I don't want to completely block foreign bidders though, if they ask how much it would cost to send abroad I would consider it. They usually do, rather than just bid and pay so I can't do anything. Rude as far as I am concerned. I have posted to Georgia before because the nice woman had the decency to ask if I would do so, I automatically sold there and then as she really wanted the item. I am not a bad seller on Ebay, as my 91 100% feedback says. I treat people decently on there, constantly messaging them to say item is posted, let me know of problems and so on.
At the end of the day the only idiot here is the one who bought and paid for the item from Holland without so much as a message to ask if that would be doable. I say idiot, that maybe a bit harsh, rude and ignorant is a better term for them.0 -

No, an idiot is someone who moans when an international bidder has won, as there are no restrictions on bidding countries in place and no international postage quoted, so the bidder pays what is listed, zero.
If you want to have international bidders then you need to quote the postage price, or they can select the UK price, there are only two prices to chose from, Europe and Rest of World.
If you don't want them to bid, then YOU must set your preferences to preclude.0 -

I am an idiot for selling something on Ebay for the 92nd time with no previous problems, oh right silly me... I am so embarrassed over my stupidity. How will I live this down!0

Writing words BIGGER than others or bold to get our point across, I expect you don't get many listeners in the real world0

Have asked the buyer about cancelling as I clearly stated UK only but have not heard back yet (probably can't read English!).
HAHAHA. You've obviously never been to Holland. I have. Every single person I have ever met there speaks english better than most of the people on these forums. It is their second language.0 -

You won't if you keep highlighting it, clearly you will list again on the 93rd time. Why not learn how to do it properly?0 -

So the problem is still you and the fact you didn't specify an amount for international postage which you can do by clicking on the "ADD SERVICE" link just below where you enter the UK postage and just above where you specify which countries you post to.
So in short, the reason you only got £1.80 in postage is because you didn't read what was on the screen in front of you then?
And thats the buyers fault how? I would neg you for item not recieved. Ebay would not remove it because you had specified international and the postage at £1.80.0 -
"Eh? Don't want to post abroad and are miffed someone from Holland won but don't want to block foreign bidders. How does that work then?"
If you read a previous post, I said I don't mind posting abroad, if the buyer is polite enough to ask if I will do and how much postage would cost them, which they have done a few times. Is it that hard to understand?0
