Ha ha, ok I'll give you a few details and some background!!!

Congratulations on you guys being a year next week, that's awesome!!! Got anything planned to celebrate??? :kisses2:

My date was very nice, he works on a different floor and in a different dept to me, so although I see him at work and do pass work between us occasionally, it's not enough that I would get annoyed with seeing him all the time!!! Let's call him "A" to make life easier.

After our "first Friday of the month drink with colleagues" we drove back to mine, dropped my car off, and he drove us to the pub and we had a lovely meal, then he dropped me home (there may have been a little kiss in the car..........:o) and that was that!

He has asked me out again, which is nice, but I don't know when yet. I expect it will be Friday.

Now, here's a dilemma (I'm so not used to all this - been out the game for so long due to hanging around for he-who-will-not-be-named) - "A" paid this Friday just gone, and it was £35 for both our meals and drinks. I offered money, obviously, but he wouldn't take any, which is lovely.

I can't let him keep paying, although I suspect he's the kind of guy who would, but my conscious couldn't take it! The trouble is, I can't afford to keep going out for meals, even if I'm only paying half!!! I'll work out what to do this Friday - if I have to pay the lot I can, but I'll be really tight then for the rest of the month.

The issue is, we each live about 25 miles away from work - IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS!!! And to further complicate, we're both currently living with parents (the only reason I can afford to go out at all at the moment, but also the reason I'm miles away from everything and everyone!). So we're faced with enough challenges anyway, plus having to keep it secret at work (we decided it was for the best and we'll re-assess if things go well), and even worse, whilst I don't know his salary, based on his job role and the fact he'll be on the lowest "band" for it as he's the newest, I reckon I earn anywhere from £4-5k more than him.

But of course I'm whacking loads off my debts and I think he pays about the same rent as me, but mine doesn't include food and all that, and of course his does. So I think I've got a lot less disposable than he does (in a practical manner).

So if I do keep seeing him - there's going to come a point where I literally can't afford to, due to the distance, and the face when we see each other it has to be out and about somewhere (the parent thing - plus, I refuse to rush into anything).

This is all so difficult but I do really like him. I think we would only be able to go out once a week anyway, as he plays a lot of golf on the weekends, sometimes both days, plus we've both got friends to see. He's so lovely, really sweet and nice, but a lovely big build and dark hair, and lovely smile, and really big and manly but kind of calm and gentle, and funny and friendly and loves a chat. We'll see what happens...if it's meant to be, it'll all work itself out! :D

Weeeeeee I'm so excited for you!

Just don't write it off before it happens :D like you say if it's meant to be it's meant to be!! I did think about those things too when I met my man, never ever thought he would like me, the silly four eyed blonde who was a bit chubby and a bit of a loser :D I still am all those things lol so don't know what I am saying was... Except not chubby now... More fat! He was this gorgeous, tall, well spoken Dutch man who has broad shoulders and a smile to die for... Yet he says he saw me on my first day of work and fell in love with me there and then in the carpark lol!! I did too but I first saw him when I went round the office shaking everyone's hand. His was the only name I remembered and the one I couldn't pronounce! I was also in a relationship at the time, with the one that got me in a lot of debt, I was living with him but the relationship was stale and had been since January last year, it was my kick up the bum to get out! I broke up with him and yet had over a month left on the contract to the flat so had to stay... Which was awkward especially the first few weeks of being with R, I didn't want to seem like I had just jumped from one guy to the next... Which I had but it's not the point! Still to this day R doesn't know I lived with him... I think he has a fair idea tho!

As for the money thing, I would only worry when it comes to it... Whilst it's still summer you could go for a mini picnic after work or even a midnight picnic (which are awesome) or go somewhere pretty and sit in the car and natter. It's what me and R did when we first got together. We used to sit in the car on top of a massive hill (Emz will know where I mean as she's a Pompey lass like me :D) and watch the city fall asleep. (had to watch out for the doggers though hahahahahahaha)

Keep positive and if things progress you can tell him that things are a bit tight... Plus if things go REALLY well you'll only have to save half the deposit for a new place together and break free from the folks! Lol here I go again getting myself all excited!!

As for anniversary plans... None. We thought about going for a weekend away but I am absolutely skint and we don't have the time off work... So maybe just a night away and I will try not to get my hopes up for a proposal as I know deep down it ain't gonna happen for a long time yet!! Need to think of something to get him though!

    Lots of love

Hehe, you're like my little cheerleader bless you!! :A

I'm certainly not writing anything off yet, I like him too much for that!

That's a lovely story about how you and your boyfriend fell in love in with each other when you first saw each other, how utterly utterly romantic!! I love it!:j

I like the idea about picnics, good plan. Midnight ones wouldn't work as we're so far away from each other unforunately - we'd be asleep!!! :rotfl: but yes, doggers kind of ruin the mood!!!

Ha, the deposit thing is nothing that hasn't crossed my mind (I know it's seriously jumping the gun, but one has to consider every angle before getting involved with someone!!!), I think if we did get in a relationship that I would probably still move out alone first though - he has a whole life where he lives, whereas I have nothing here (except parents which is still close enough for when I move) so I don't think he'd want to leave his area. But at least when I get my place he'd be able to come and visit and we could have film nights and takeaways which is cheaper than going out, which we currently can't do! Plus I would be massively closer - 16 miles ish I think! To work and him!!!

Definitely see if you can get a night away somewhere, would be a shame to let it slip by un-celebrated!!! I love the fact that you have no idea when he will propose...he's playing this very well!!!!! :j

Take care pudding, and have a great week if I don't get chance to pop on...

    Love love

Hehe well all the more reason to move!! Takeaways and movie nights sounds awesome!!

I still don't know what we're gonna do this weekend, he's currently tucked up in bed with a mild touch of food poisoning!! All his own doing by reheating a burger last night... oh well he'll survive!!

My friend keeps getting me excited and saying that he might have planned a proposal but I dunno.. I doubt it... It would be out of this world if he has as he knows that's all I want and hasn't asked what I want for the anniversary yet... he normally would have by now..

I'M NOT READING ANYTHING INTO IT!!!

It will only lead to disappointment!!!

So when's the next hot date? xxxxxxxxxxx
