Neighbour using my name!

Well using your name is fraud and could be possibly being used in some kind of fraud, i would call or make a visit to the police see what they have to say.0

How do you think she got to know your full name? Maybe post was delivered to her in error in the past or something. I think I would go speak to the local police. Explain the situation and ask if they think you are right to be worried and ask why they think she is doing it? They may know of a certain type of scam. I'd also want to do credit checks on myself just in case too like already suggested. Hope you get it sorted.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

I think is being blown out of all proportion, as I think it is for freebies too. Why don't you just ask?0

Is it? , surely there must be hundreds of people who share the same name . Maybe she just wanted to be anonymous ?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
For safety sake, do a full credit check with all three credit reference agencies.
This has got to be the first thing to do. If the checks show any problems, you've got a more serious problem than the freebie ordered in your name.inspirespirit wrote: »If she is not approachable, how about making a photocopy of the letter and writing covering note letting her know you want an explanation as you have phoned the company and know she has used your identity which is a crime.
This would be my next step. Keep a copy of your letter and the original that came to you. That may be enough to stop her using your name again.0 -
You are right to worry. A neighbour of mine bought stuff from her own catalogue in my name and that of another neighbour.
I found out when I had a demand for payment.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Yes this happened to me, too.
Months afterwards - after I thought it was all sorted out, and had moved house - debt collectors from one of her catalogues turned up on my doorstep.
Find out how far it's gone now, and stop it.
Oh, and this is certainly a money-saving query for you!0 -
If this had happened to me, I wouldn't be contacting the woman at all. I would be phoning my solicitor for advice and then most likely filing a complaint to the police as well as checking my credit reports.0

It is identity theft. She probably has not thought of it as this.(Check your credit status/ report with one of the agencies just in case.)
I also do think that she need a tap on the door from a community policeman to give her a warning. Who knows she could be using more than you name! ?
At first I thought just speak to your neigbour, as it is only over a few freebies. However, it is possible she could be up to more mischief, so you could be helping someone else out buy reporting it.0
