Thanks very much to those of you who have helped (Tilt & Flyboy), now I must remember not to come here for simple advice again.

You only thank those who said what you wanted to hear. It's not moneysaving to go to court on an issue you are unlikely to win. It is not money saving not to accept a very generous offer of 50:50 and still push for full costs when the dealer is likely just going to say "OK see you in court".

Doesn't the blower blow even thought the CC is not working?

And AFAICT people were not "starting on you" and certainly not for trying a cheap self repair. All they were saying is that by doing that you have reduced your chances of a succesful claim against the seller.... For yours and others benefit so you know not to do it again in the future.

LMAO another poster with the blinkers on, one or two people have said I am in the right and I agree with them so it must be true. As wig has said sometimes the money saving part is by actually spending the money and not chasing something regardless of the cost on a whim.

You have told everyone how you have tried to regass an air con system yourself, then you have taken it to another garage before allowing the dealer himself the opportunity to address the issue. BY doing both of those the damage could have been caused by either yourself or the other garage, there is no way to know for sure. Your now going to no doubt go back to the dealer, claim it hasn't been working and you haven't touched and neither has anyone else and now you want it fixed. If you want to save money by being deceitful go right ahead but your likely to come unstuck when the air con specialist you state the dealer uses drops you right in it and you could more than likely be left with the full bill.

You could take the 50/50 deal and know you will only have to pay half or you could be greedy and chase for the whole amount on a gamble which may or may not pay off. Either way I don't personally care, but you have to see both sides of the coin, keep the blinkers on but don't come crying when the dealer refuses to pay for it after finding you have tampered with the system yourself!!

Good luck.........you're really going to need.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
