I cannot believe some people. Just because we are on this forum does not mean we are all poor, just savvy enough not to spend money when its not needed.

If its any consolation I probably would have tripped up, dropped the bottle AND walked into a wall.

Quite disagree, actually...I find this place to be quite judgemental a lot of the time...there's a lot of "inverse snobbery" goes on - where people think you're stupid or judge you if you actually want/need to spend a lot of money on your wedding.

It's really important to both myself and the OH to get married on a Saturday in the Summer (she teaches - and I want a long honeymoon...and we both felt bad asking people to use holiday to come) - this alone probably triples the amount we have to spend on the thing...and we wanted a marquee reception, which seems to add to the cost still further.

Our wedding's going to be nice, but in no way lavish - and I certainly don't go around bragging about the amount of money we're spending. Still, however, I find a lot of people on here with a "well if you need to spend that much, you obviously don't love each other as much as my wonderful fianc!e and I do" attitude - which I think is kinda sick.

Don't know why people can't just take joy in other people's special days tbh...It's not a competition.

(edited to add: OK, we're going to the states for a month on Honeymoon - that's certainly lavish by our standards - but the wedding itself won't be lavish )
