Humax pvr-9200t freeview PVR - £171

I cancelled my Empire Direct order (£176.49 inc delivery) and went to Comet online. For under £181 it was delivered free yesterday. If I need to claim under the manufacturer's warranty, I need only to take it (with proof of purchase) to any Comet showroom where they will arrange its repair.
My first impressions are that it is very good quality but not as user-friendly as the Tevion from Aldi (but that kept crashing and the timer and instant record packed up, so I obtained a refund). I like the fact that it has an RF output so I can split the signal out and feed my kitchen tv which has no scart socket.0 -

Have you got a decent signal strength/quality on the SSN Mux in your area, might be a weaker signal from another transmitter for example?
Well the signal wont have changed and its been working until recently - very odd - I do miss the text facility though0 -
I'm looking to treat myself to a Humax 9200T but I have really bad reception in the room I want to put it in so I'm assuming that it would be ok to put the Humax in another room which is wired directly to the house aerial and use a 2.4GHz wireless AV sender to beam to & control the Humax in the room I want to use it in? Does this sound possible?
Any help gratefully appreciated!0 -

I think the Humax has a built in amp booster that you can turn on. Don't quote me on that however as I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.
I am in a poor reception area so will let you know as soon as I have it whether it improves things or not.
I would still recommend using an external aerial for digital reception.
Failing that I will get a high gain aerial fitted to the roof which should help.
Anyone wanting to know the transmission signal strengths in their local area can check by clicking on the location closest to them:

Woby_Tide wrote:The weekday recordings is only available in 1.0.10, it's scheduled to go 'Over the air' i.e. via your aerial sometime in the next 2-3 months (though no guarantee). You can download it now from the Humax website though and install it. You need a null modem cable from Maplin or Ebay is cheapest (assuming you have a Com port on your PC (Com ports have |o|o| symbol above them), otherwise you need a null modem to USB convertor
Full instructions are here

Once you have the cables and the firmware file it takes about 10 minutes. And is pretty easy to do. Been using the software since Mid December with no problems
Thanks a lot for the info, looks like 1.0.10 includes a lot of things that'd be useful to me, so I'll try and fish out a null modem cable from my Duke Nukem 3D days0 -

It's not really an amp booster, it's designed to power indoor/portable aerials that you may use on it, using a decent masthead amp or other booster may help more than the inbuilt Humax offering0 -

Thanks for correcting me.
I have a Sony freeview box at the moment which makes a big difference to my reception signal. Without it even analogue is barely viewable. I am hoping the Humax does the same.
I think a definate aerial upgrade is in the pipeline.0 -

I changed from the Sony freeview box to the Humax 9200t... sounds like you have the same dodgy analogue reception as me. However happy to say that there is no difference in signal quality between the Sony and the Humax - get all MUXes on both boxes, no problems.Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -

Empiredirect do not have any in stock until at least the end of the month, although they cannot confirm an exact date. Its OK if you don't mind waiting.
I ordered one from 24-7Electrical and it arrived in two days!!
