Got one now... I saw the same guy that I saw earlier. I told him that I was really annoyed that he had just disregarded my price-matching request, and didn't tell me what the Comet online price was.

His reply was shocking... 'With all due respect sir, it's not our responsibility to find you a lower price. If you come in with evidence that the online price is lower, we will match it'. I then asked him if he knew it was lower than the price advertised in store and he said that he had a good idea that it would be cheaper, but it was not company policy to openly give customers the online price. I retorted that he had simply wasted my time, and that I had only ended up getting it at the online price anyway, and if he had advised me of this earlier today, it would have saved me all the hassle of having to go home, get the price, and then come back again.

I was eventually pointed in the direction of the manager, who was on the telephone, and another customer was waiting to see him.

I gave up in the end... useless bunch of *****. Anyway, I have my Hummy now... just got to figure out how to use it!!!

Was looking at updating the software, but it looks like I need another cable to do that :(

  • Well after reading all the reviews and the forums here on getting the best deals I decided to see how cheap I could get one of these boxes.

First looked at comet which are £180 incl free delivery but I wanted to pick one up same day.

In the end found that Richer Sounds were selling these for £199.99 but offer a price matching and + £10 additional discount.

A quick google found me Martin Dawes selling these for £172.50 and they offer free collection in there stores.

Therefore used Richer Sounds Price Match Guarantee where you get it at the advertised internet rate + delivery charge (£0 as Martin Dawes offer store collection) and then was immediately offered the item at £170 which I then pointed out should be £162.50 as they advertise we'll beat any price by £10 for items over £100.

Superb service by the guys in my local Richer sounds as they even put one aside for me.

Would definately look if they stock the items that I want in future.

I bought a Digihome (titled DUAL in ASDA) for £80 and an absolutely fraction of this price. Twin recording whilst watching another channel, with a simple firmware upgrade. Nice EPG. Loving it.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"
  • Extremely pleased with my Hummy ! If you are a techie and want to learn even more about it, go to http://www.hummy.org.uk/invison/index.php?act=idx

Nice EPG with only two days data though because the twin record firmware takes up the spare memory, no autopadding unless you set a manual timer, and half the disk space, yes it's cheaper, but the Hummy cost is including a 2nd year warranty and official updates to firmware. Not a true comparison but certainly a bargain for a second machine
