... the card itself has an annual 1% cash back refund that is separate to any special / extra cashback offers so another £1.71 would come off this total.
So I could get it for £160.74
Yes, and if you apply for your Egg card through Quidco, you'll get another £20 cashback, bringing the price down to £140.74 !!!Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -
Appreciate the humax lead. I was recently hunting for the cheapest twin tuner freeview pvr on the web that got 3 stars or more in consumer reviews and was very pleased with myself to find a refurbished digifusion fvrt200 for £80 at microdirect.co.uk. I've had it 2 weeks and in that time it's virtually ground to a halt - freezing and locking and not responding. I'm having to send it back today and they are making me pay the postal charge. Therefore, I will be going for a humax.0

Well heres a wee update for ye . Held out thinking that this would drop in the sales . Never found it cheaper although Currys had dropped it from £229 to £199.
Was on the xmas sales hunt today and seen one in Currys , man it looked a sweet machine . Anyhow meantioned it was £171 in Dixons and without problem the saleslady dropped to £170 . No delivery charge as i was picking up , i thought hey what the heck lets go for it .
Got it home and woh this is a box tricks , fantasic piece of kit . No messing about with timers all you do is select the programme from the epg . Amazing piece of kit , well pleased . When i say well pleased that is until someone comes on and posts a better deal ...Still i held out tried my best and still beat the best online price , top jobby highly recommend this unit .
cheers for all the replys .something missing0 -

My sister's fella has a DVD player hooked up to his PC somehow and it enables him to play downloaded movie files on his 32" TV direct from his PC.
Does anyone know if that's possible with this machine, as I was looking at getting one, too??_________________________________________________

Nope. You can record on the pvr and export it via usb2 to pc, and you can play movies from pc to a tv via svideo (from graphics card) or if its a LCD tv using video out of pc to lcd0

Best way to do what you looking to do would be to buy the xbox deal @ argos for £49.99 . Flog the 4 games on ebay maybe get £15 or so . Softmod the xbox for running XBMC and away you go , no more converting files . Xbmc will play anything you throw at it and for £35 its a steal . Xbox has to be connected to your pc for to send the downloaded file to the xbox , hold that thought . You dont even need to transfer the file to xbox , you can stream it from the pc . Brillant piece of kit if you can get your xbox softmodded , lots of reading needs to be done . Google it ...something missing0 -

LOL - I have a modded Xbox and that never even crossed my mind! Thanks - will look into it
In the meantime, I might just invest in one of these and chuck my video on the tip
I have been a little concerned by comments made elsewhere on the net about the recording via the EPG, and how the Humax sometimes misses the start/end of recordings - is this still a fault or has it recently been corrected by updates?_________________________________________________

I never once had a problem with mine. It has the a recent update though, cant be bothered messing about connecting to it c with null modem cable at mo for latest update. Its brilliant far better than a video but then I have 2 pvrs a Humax 8000t which daughter uses daily.0
