  • I think she thinks we're all in some 'cult of Martin', and so doesn't come on here. I'm happy to keep it that way as she'll work out who I am due to my cult of 'Getting Things Done' (David Allen).

Which will, erm, ruin the suprise? ;)

She nearly met Martin at a publicity 'thing' a few weeks ago but he didn't show up. I had her primed with all the right DFW things to say to him as well...

So if we suddenly switch your thread on one day to find all posts edited to wipe out mention of engagement rings etc then we know she has joined the cult too.....:money:

I have to say I would have been gutted if I was all primed to meet Martin and he didn't show. I wonder if she will ever recover :o

  • Tried to apply for a 0% card yesterday, but got rejected - bum :(

Got 6 years statements this morning, processed them today and have the letter to send off now. I will update my calendar for 14 days to take to the next stage ... :)

Will be going to a local carboot this Sunday - not sure whether I'll just be observing or whether I should bring some stuff along.

Just as long as you don't go buying anything at the car boot, it will be fine..........but of course if you want to be debt free, taking the obligatory paste table, flask of tea, pork pie, and a few boxes of crap would be the norm.....

Good luck with the bank charges. My court date is in 5 weeks time

  • Slept in, so completely missed the car boot sale - doh!

Got a letter from the council saying I owed them council tax - I don't think so now that I'm mr organised. urm, nope, they are right. So that's 2 x £97 I owe them now. Plus the gas bill. Plus the electric bill. sheesh, it all adds up.

I've worked out my expenses and somehow I appear to be out of pocket. not good.

I've got my other cc statements for the last 6 years. Actually, they didn't send statements, they sent a little report with everything all detailed out, ready to be posted back with my letter asking for them back. neat. £840 worth of neat. certainly adds up :)

Hypno - good luck with your bank charges and I hope they pay out before the court date.

  • Going away this weekend and there are definitely not going to be any NSDs.

Checked my online banking and paid my bills etc, so although I haven't set myself a budget, I do have some 'spending money'. However, it's another weekend of not doing a car-boot sale, so I must re-focus on getting this done.

Got to write my next 'gimme my money back' letter, but my printer is out of ink and coincidentally so is the one I use at work - is there a conspiracy going on?

My Amex is clear and I've realised that I have nearly 100,000 points on there - which equates to about £300 cash, which could come in handy. Let me get this right, I spend £100,000 and you give me £300 - not a great deal I'm guessing. I definitely have picked up lots of charges over the years with them, so I'm thinking they will be my next claim-project.

I've also realised that I haven't put my SOA up here, so that's a little project for me next week; not sure there is much to slice off (got to keep Sky for OH's cookery channel!) but you never know - I have a feeling that my gas/electric package ain't the best.

I absolutely know where I want to get a ring from now - so at least that's moving forwards slowly.

Been a bit up and down lately, which I think is normal amongst us DFW's. I can see where I want to get to, but I WANT IT NOW!!!!

For some reason my snowballing figures don't appear to match reality - either the credit card interest rates and minimum repayment numbers I have been given are wrong (rates up again??!) or I'm putting in the wrong balance. When I add the figures up on my statements they are higher than what the snowball calculator says they should be. I am going to change my sig to be the figure: outstanding balance - actual amount paid + their calculated interest estimate. At the moment it appears to be adrift by £200-£300 pounds - no point fooling myself (not fooling with myself - that's something entirely different ;) ).

Anyways, a bit of a ramble - must get back to work! Got to get some erm 'documents' printed and posted...

Glad that you have been making moves towards that ring.......:D Don't stress too much about posting an SOA - I have never done one for general consumption on these boards, but I do regularly do them "for my eyes only" just to keep me more or less on the straight and narrow!

I know what you mean on the old snowball front - much as I love that thing, it gave me one heck of a shock this week when my debt had increased by over £1000 when I was expecting it to remain fairly static, even though I wasn't expecting it to decrease!

You are right, there is a conspiracy - it is Seaxwyn trying to make sure she is the first to reach her Pre Christmas debt target ;) The things that she is coming up with are just downright unfair - she makes chocolate BOGOF in the supermarket when I am trying to give it up, she makes the tax credit refund helpline just have an answering machine but only when I ring, and she is hacking into the snowball calculator to make everyone else's figures wrong :rotfl:

I hope you have a good weekend away. Be sure to 'fess up to your spending when you get back.....:D

  • Thanks hypno - I have a feeling that Seaxwyn was the one who turned my application for a 0% credit card down...

    :D

Also - who put those 2 chocolate biscuits on my desk??!! I think you're onto something - I'll keep an eye on her.

    Have a good weekend too!

Ooh yes, I forgot about my two card application failures and the fact that I was even turned down for a citibank account with no overdraft even applied for! She has obviously been plotting for some time......:D

  • After an excellent weekend 'down south' it's back to work etc.

Got an offer from Mint for a partial settlement based on £12 a fee. Not going to take it though, so getting ready to write next letter in the process.

OH finishes her job tomorrow to work more locally (with a big paycut) so interesting times ahead. Luckily, she's a real OS type as well as 'An Excellent E-Bayer!' (well that's what her feedback says). We have a couple of suitcases and bin bags full of clothes to ebay, so I think I'm going to be a regular at the post-office again.

Going away for a week at the weekend, so that's another carboot opportunity missed - but we need some sunshine!
