  • Well it has been a while since I've posted. I was just getting too addicted to this site, so I thought I'd better step back for a bit.

Hope O_M is ok - is she still not back yet?

Well I'm still getting closer to 40 and the debt is (v) gradually going down. Trying to snowball £400 on my credit cards at the moment and get by on the rest of my salary (~450) and pay the gas, elec, phone bills out of the bit of cash that I got back from the bank charges.

I had things running sweetly for a few months, making sure I paid everything on time, but a few slips here and there have given me some more charges and some 'late payments' on my credit reports. Darn.

I need to set myself some targets - feels like 3months is the longest I can concentrate for, so I'll try and be good until July and then review again then.

Still not engaged/married - got to get my act together!!! :)

Oh - hypno06, I'm back on your case!!

Welcome back - I did wonder what had happened to you. Hope we didn't frighten you off!!!

Addicted to this site  Simply not possible :rotfl:

At least you are making progress, and you are bound to have slip ups along the way, we all do! But you are heading in the right direction - keep on snowballing :T

  • Just been sooo busy with work trying to earn as much as possible, so I've not had time to update my diary. And I've been fighting my addiction to this site too!

Still getting closer to 40. Still keeping up the snowballing.

I did manage to get some bank charges back a little while back, so now it's the turn of the credit card companies - sent off my first letters + cheques for 6 years worth of statements last week, so let's see what happens.

I have a little over 19 months to get debt free - I tend to work well at a monthly level so I'm going to work it out on that basis; it it wasn't for the pesky extortionate interest, I would be pretty close to hitting that with my current payments...

Waaah - sorry to bore you all, but I just got my focus back!

    Ah, so the wanderer returns!

Glad that you are still making progress, and that you are working hard. Don't want you getting bored now, do we

Glad you got some bank charges back. You may have seen that I have my court date for Barclays come through, so making very slow progress there. I also have lots of credit card charge claims for OH to start but although I keep talking about them, I have yet to get those letters off. Maybe today.....

Keep on posting, once every month or two simply is not enough! Update us on G/F progress too.

  • Good luck Hypno with getting your bank charges - it is such a pleasure getting that money back. For some reason it took me ages to get round to writing the letters for my credit cards too, so I completely understand about those - do it today!! :)

The g/f is giving up her job and coming to work with me which is a *lot* more local, so interesting times ahead! This will mean a big pay cut but lots more time together. Also, now we are both in the DFW groove this should work out to be really good. For example she is 'an excellent ebayer!!' etc

I may have mentioned earlier that now I have some cash from the bank charges I can afford a ring. So now all I need to do is make myself 'unbusy' enough to get that sorted (or buy a new Playstation3 - decisions, decisions).

I'd like to get into matched betting, but the g/f doesn't like the idea of going to gambling sites. I'm not a gambler at all, which is why mb appeals; I may leave it until next years football season starts...

Anyhoo - I'm back. I could only stay away for so long... :)

A playstation 3? how could you even entertain the idea when you have something FAR more important to be buying? Wasn't that the whole reason you came onto this site in the first place

Use the available time before the footy season starts again to read the matched betting stuff over and over and over again. It is simply too good an opportunity to let go - if you make £500 or so in your first month, with minimal risk, maybe your G/F will be happy. Remember you can have one account in your name, one in hers - double profits :T

  • Thats a good point about the double profits, and as you say, there is plenty of time to get familiar with how it all works.

I was joking about the PS3 and to be honest, I don't really want any 'consumer' items. Ideally, if it wasn't for UKTVFood (the g/f's choice!) I would even get rid of Sky and the telly. Maybe it makes me sound like a miserable git, but I feel quite disconnected from the consumer society...

I don't think you would DARE to think about anything so consumerist as a ps3 or sky - you are a fully fledged dfw'er are you not :rotfl:

  • I am indeed - I just see sky as £15 x 12 = £180/year that could be going towards my debts instead!! :D

g/f is a complete foodie (from which i benefit) and so she sees it as purely educational...

By the way, I'm in your TV region, but I never watch the local news, so I missed you on TV.

I missed me on TV too! Probably just as well because it may have given me nightmares!

Instead of UKTV food or whatever it is (no, we don't have sky either) introduce GF to the OS board - she can discuss food tips all day,and come up with all sorts of stuff, all in the name of :money: and getting you both debt free.
