Those specs are very similar to the ones my DD has got. She's on her second pair but will need more next time she goes back. The one thing I did put my foot down about was not letting her get bright pink ones. I mentioned Timmy Mallet (to much sniggering from shop staff) but she had no idea who I was talking about.
My main problem is not DD breaking her specs because she only wears them for classroom stuff, it is more getting her to remember them. She's better now because I never remember as I don't wear glasses.
Those of you who think that the NHS specs are so terrible, my DS (age 7) doesn't need specs and had me taking him along for another eye test because "I can't see Mum"....... when he had his eye test he was so obviously faking, I was mortified. I was very surprised when the optician mentioned that it happens all the time.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Nice hair btw.
Are those really NHS glasses? I expected them to be an inch thick all around and brown. Oh, hang on, I've just been thinking about 1972.Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0 -

I WOULD!!!
mine wear NHS ones...
from 2008 when these were the height of fashion..

and from last night...
This pair she has had 3 years.. she had new lenses put in when she last had her eyes checked.
ETA.. note the shoe box on the back of the sofa.. they are the truly hideous FREE (£120!!) boots my daughter wears... I'm like you split second, all my prescription is concentrated in one eye. Near perfect vision in the other, but if I close it, I can't read a d*mn thing!:rotfl:I've never paid more than £50 for my glasses and my last pair cost me £25.
@pigpen, your daughter is a lovely looking young lady!:)
To the OP, I say don't pay a penny. Waiting 3 months and then buying an expensive pair of glasses with the assumption that you'll cough up half is beyond cheeky. Can't be a good lesson for their kids either, teaching them that if they break something they can blame someone else and get money out of it.Dec GC; £208.79/£220

Here's a picture of me in my NHS childrens' glasses. I do have a low prescription though. I got them when i was just under 19 and in full time education so they were free.
They're wonky but that's my fault. I only just noticed and I cba to take another
They look just like mine - except I paid £200 for mine!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

if i close my good eye i cant even tell who is stood in front of me, i can see an outline of a person but i couldnt tell you who they were or anything about what they look like :eek:I'm like you split second, all my prescription is concentrated in one eye. I wouldn't pay. If there's any comeback from the other parents tell them you might have considered it if it wasn't for their older son being so confrontational and intimidating to your boy. With any luck he'll get told off not only for being a nasty bully but for costing them for replacing his brothers glasses!Strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government0
