Sainsbury's Over Charging Again!

Did my weekly shop in Sainsbury's as usual. This week they have on offer Innocent Smoothies 1 Litre carton of juice on offer for £1.99, however when I got home the reciept showed that I had been charged £2.25 for each of the 4 cartons I purchased. I've seen this a common fault with Sainsbury's `offers'. Going back tomorrow `to have a word'. ;)

Whilst I understand the "principle of the matter" we are talking about £1.04... how much is your time/ petrol etc worth to make a special trip to sainsburys to get a refund for this amount?

If this is a common problem wouldnt it be better to check your receipt at the store or just go to another company if you have no faith in their systems?

I drive past the Sainsbury's store virtually every day so not a problem with petrol/time etc. I know it only £1.04, but if people don't complain then they will always get away with it. ;)

Mistakes happen, but it's how the store handles them that matters, and I know that Sainsbury's is very keen to make amends for mistakes they have made, and will probably refund the total price for the items, not just the amount you were overcharged.

I shop regularly with Sainsbury's on line, and always check my receipt to make sure I have all the items I've paid for. This week, there were a few items missing - one of my carrier bags had probably been given to another customer by mistake - so I rang their customer services, and they immediately contacted the store, who contacted the driver to find out if the missing items were still on board. They weren't, so customer services offered me a full refund and apologised profusely for their mistake. An hour later I was called by the local store, and they offered to deliver the missing items later that day. When the driver arrived, he gave me a £10 voucher for the inconvenience!

Not so, I've had several errors of overcharging recently (never under) and when pointed out they've very carefully given the exact difference back. They are always apologetic though.

as a sainsburys employee i would just like to say that their policy is to refund the money you have been over charged. Refunding the total price of all the items is certainly not their policy. Sainsbury's take customer care very seriously and you don't need to make a special journey to the store, next time you shop just take your receipt to the customer service desk and they will refund the difference without question.

    I stand corrected! :)

I'm fairly sure that used to be their policy, though I could be wrong.

Thanks Judei. I'm not out for revenge or trying to make a profit out of Sainsbury's, I just wanted to warn other Sainsbury's customers to check their receipts incase of `special offer' errors.

No. On Friday in the Store in Stroud, went to get the good misses her Christmas Chocolates. Found the Chocolate Oranges, could not find any After Eights. Found Quality Street, but after finding it full of Yorkie Bars last year, gave it a miss. Looking helplessly for a box of Roses on Friday, I left the trolley near one aisle and walked out again.

Come on Sainsblurries, it was a Friday, It is three weekends before Christmas and your store did not have the basic!

Freddie_Snowbits - not sure how your story has anything to do with customer care? Sounds like there was a problem at the Nestlé factory last year for your Quality Street (not really Sainsburys fault) and that they were simply low on stock of something when you went in on friday?

Could of cause treat the misses to something like Thorntons ;)

You buy your misses a trolley full of chocolate???
Yes, come on Sainsburys, How dare you run out of chocolate. I am sure it has nothing to do with the supplier and you are happy to lose lots of Christmas Sales of choccies.
Shame on you for selling out.
