Sainsbury's Over Charging Again!

Sainsbury's are always doing this. They often put through items with reduced stickers on at full price, and when they have an offer like a BOGOF they often put similar items that do not qualify for the BOGOF on the shelf behind or very near the BOGOF sign. If you're not careful you pick up the wrong item.
I think they do it on purpose.
Every week I now make sure I check my receipt as I am walking out.0 -

The other way of looking at it is though surely so it's easy for people to locate items you put to similar items next to each other eg same brands or same product but a different size.
I say this from working in a shop. Sometimes people pick up a different size product from a one thats on promotion, it will be next to the promoted product for the reason stated above but not infront of the sign. The sign will always say the exact sizes etc included in the promotion. Sometimes people will say it's confusing (although all the information required is written on the sign) and sometimes people will say 'well it shouldn't be right next to it'
But where are you suppose to put it? You can't just move things to a completely different location or to an irrelevant location just so 1 or 2% of the population don't get confused. What these people don't realize is if that were to be done then what about the other 98/99% who then can't find what their looking for!0 -

I see your point about where to put the similar items.
But I think that in Sainsburys the BOGOF item is often sold out, and then they move a pile on similar items to the place where the BOGOF sign is. If they know they're not getting any more in I think maybe they should remove the BOGOF sign. When you are shopping in a hurry you don't always have time to check. Also Sains sometimes seeem to have signs up that are actually wrong and misleading.0 -
This seems to be a common problem with Sainsburys (with my local branch anyway) - if you are in a hurry and/or in a busy city centre store with a big queue behind you it's unlikely that you will stand there and check your receipt.
Once I was also charged 3 times for 3 different items at Marks and Spencers (ie: charged for 9 items as 3 of each item when I had bought 3 items at 1 of each item, all on the same order) and although they refunded the overcharging they made me feel like I was lying or trying to pull a fast one so now if it's only a pound or 2 I just don't bother..... Happened twice at Waitrose too, first time I just left it, second time I was annoyed (as I had only shopped there 3 times and been overcharged twice) but the hassle of complaining was not really worth the one pounds something overcharge.... Funny how you always get overcharged and never undercharged!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

I'm an accountant and I must add all my shopping in my head or something because 99.5% of the time I know instantly i have been overcharged. I always ask for it back -recently i was overcharged about 40p in sainsbury's which i asked for and she gave it back to me as if I was a terrible nuisance bothering her for such a small amount. Last year a woman in sainsbury's in salford gave me change of a £20 -an extra £10-I said you have given me the wrong money-she said oh no ! -her face was quite funny when I handed her the tenner back!0

I shop regularly at Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose and keep a running tally of how often I am wrongly charged at each. I am almost never wrongly charged at Tesco or Waitrose, but I would say that 1 in 4 times I visit Sainsbury's, I need to go straight to Customer Service desk. They are always extremely helpful and refund the difference immediately. My point is that I think the Sainsbury's computer systems are more flaky (or not kept as up to date with special offers) as the other supermarkets. The errors are almost always on not applying special offers.
Just don't start me on my pet hate at Sainsbury's, which is skips in the aisles at busy periods, blocking customer trolleys from getting past. If I wanted to shop at a warehouse, I'd go to a cash and carry...0
