I did say that I had a lot of stuff to get rid of!!!! I have also been unemployed most of time since April but doing 2 days a week for next few weeks. So I have lots of time which helps.

My eBay feedback is exactly 4000 today on my main account but I have sold over 5500 things and bought more than than 1000. I have had this account since 2003 though.

The difference this month is that I am determinedly listing 20 items every day. I did 100 99p listings at the end of May which took all day!

I have also been really ruthless. The children are locking their bedroom doors in fear that I will seize their stuff!

I must still have 200 things to list - at least.
    June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

    July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550

    October challenge £100 a day. £385/£3100

more hugs youngmummy. Do you have to go 2/3 times a week, could you reduce it to 2 a week, or 4 times a month? I understand how important it is for little one to see grandparents, but if it means you are struggling financially?

My DS doesn't see his grandparents more than once or twice a year as they live too far for us to afford the train fare and we have told them that.

yeah we did mention it and they started moaning, oh well if they cant make the effort but can go and see friends that live futher than us more often then i need to put my foot down, they're walking all over us, thats the problem:eek:. (and i've only just realised) same with them owing us £2000 think its time they started facing up to there situation and paying us back rather than burry thier head in the sand and have other people buying there food, ive told them to go bankrupt if its that bad, MIL answer when i mentioned it "but then we wont be able to get credit or loans" ,,, thats the point ... a fresh start , they dont own a house or a car and have no savings so they havent got that much too loose have they ??? dont really know how it works, they wont listen to me anyway so looks like they may have to learn the hard way :(

oh gosh! you are between a rock and a hard place!

if things are that bad for them financially, do they have access to the internet? if not are they in an area where the library offers free internet access? tell them to to use the old style thread on mse to make their food go further. they could use coupons to reduce their food bills.

they could contact Age Concern to make sure they are claiming everything they should be and also be given advice on how to live frugally, etc.

well done on your first sale and win on bingo :D

yeah they have access to internet, would age concern help them they are only in there 40's, they claim benifits, and have a motability car, i did tell them to go to a financial advisor at there bank booked the appointment and everythink and they never turned up. FIL is very stuck in his ways and theres no justifying, hes always right, (hes not he just thinks he is lol) they havent done a food shop since before xmas family have been buying food for them because they cant afford it. really dont know what to do im banging my head against a brick wall with them, dont get me wrong it cant be easy hearing from an 18 year old that you need to sort your financial situation out, i dont think anyone would like it , but im stating facts and im not getting nasty im trying to help them but they cant see it, i need to ask them when they will start paying us the money they owe us but keep putting it off, thanks for all your help btw and your advice, its much apriciated, tbh i dont even think they know how much dept there in,:( they deffinatley dont know what there income is cuz i had to sit down and work it out with there bank statement for them and they seemed shocked when i told them the total as if they thought it was alot alot less they even recalculated it cuz they said i was wrong, oh well you just cant help some people just wish they wudnt get me stressed and worried about it sometimes
thanks for your time and replys hun,

sorry, I just assumed they were older :o then they need to make an appointment with the CAB - citizens advice bureau and sit down with someone and discuss their benefits, entitlements and why they cannot afford to buy some food themselves.

I know in this day and age it is very difficult for anyone to survive on benefits and pay for gas, electricity, water, etc, without even thinking about food, etc.

But they need to start taking ownership of their finances, etc, it is not fair on you and your family to keep supporting them. Esp with what has recently happened.

The old style board on here is fab. Lots of receipe ideas, lots of help. List your cupboard ingredients and people will help you to plan meals. Get them to have a look.

    Hello Aesop and all.

Youngmummy, time to put your foot down ..... they are not old people. Put your family first and do what you can to help after that. Some people do not learn to take responsibility until others stop doing it for them. They have to help themselves. Are they suffering from depression, maybe that explains the spending. Hope I sound helpful rather than judgemental.

Could you hold off doing the garden for another few weeks until you have gathered up some more money. I know its not been nice for you with people floating about, but if you persevere for a little while longer you could do it without debt. If you dont mind me asking ... would the loan be from your bank or credit union. Do you have an overdraft facility on your current account?

Its amazing how much you could earn on ebay in a fortnight. If you listed 5 items at least a day you will earn good money.

I really do wish you and your young family all the best. We are here to support you.

    God bless
    E
